I do love Be a Pro mode.
Looks to be a nice stepping stone to Fifa 09, which, for the first time, I am looking forward to more than the next pro evo game.

ive been a die hard iss/pes fan since the playstation 1 days and have always preffered iss to fifa..but fifa 08 was a close call and it was obvious EA were mounting a serious challenge..this game looks every bit as good as pes 08 in regards to playability and the visuals are awesome..i also love the neat little cut scenes that fit in brilliantly without ruining the game and the custom celebrations are a nice idea too...this is a must try for any football fans

Except it's not, PES 2008 is garbage and next gen Fifa08 craps on it significantly, by all account Euro 2008 is even better and further shoves Konami's barely updated annual flops to the past.
And yes I also was a diehard PES fan from the days of PS1 up to PES 5 on the PS2. Then I saw the light and EA's 360 games just got better with each version, UCL - Fifa 08 were great steps, whereas Konami takes tiny steps by including old men with dogs and animal heads, pathetic.

I agree PES2008 sucks over FIfa08 this time.
PES on the Wii however is a refreshing change in control mechanics

Sounds like you're comparing Fifa and PES current gens, cos Fifa next gen pisses from a great height on Konami's supposed next gen version of PES.......

fifa 08 pisses all over pes2008
pes2008 is a joke
i was a pes fan, only version of fifa i played was fifa 96...
all the rest have been pes leading up to pes 6..each year i was putting up with the shoddy releases from konami, a little change here and still the online bugs carried through
but pes would the better playing football game, so i stuck with them and supported them
although pes6 on the nextgen was laughable, was more like current gen
i was still waiting for a good release of pes, and would of got pes2008 but came along fifa 08 demo which caught my attention, then came pes2008 demo which also caught my attention but for all the wrong reasons
pes2008 is laughable and fifa 08 is as close as you could get to real life football, not to mention the 5v5 online which makes for some great games of footy
but along comes euro 08, which looks like a mix of old school pes, mixed with the new school fifa and i just love it
it handles response times, like pes does, but has nextgen graphics, skills, movements etc
EA are moving in the right direction and konami (pes) have been blown out of the water and left behind
this will be the first year i will not be considering pes, unless they can actually make a nextgen version of it, as upto now it has been shocking on the nextgen console

I've not, but it does look wonderful.
You had to worry about this years Pro Evo game, when before it came out Seabass came along saying what stuff will be in next years, and how next years will be a huge improvment. Ah well
Played a few more 'Be a Pro' games on the Euro 2008 demo last night, so much fun to be had doing that. I really hope you can play a whole competition doing that.

Okay, pes had one bad year but all others were groundbreaking and fun, compare that of fifa's 10 year recycling unrealistic slouch, even the creator of pes said that pes2008 is very far from what he indented it to be, the next one should be great and if it doesn't than fifa will go down again because there won't be a pes to steal ideas from.

I know there is a captain your team mode where you're the captain and you compete in the tournament. This sounds as though it's be a pro mode.

It wasn't just one bad year though, I personally grew tired of PES from PES 3 onwards when yet again they made fuck all changes and improvements to the master league (I only play single player), the game was the same old thing, too easy to win everything on 6*, same few teams, same boring, basic master league format, each version promised big new, involving master league changes, but it never happened, instead they bang on about some shitty new dribble that's in the game, or they include stupid giant animal heads, once upon a time Konami made the best football game in the world, then they lost the plot and got worse and worse and worse, now because they got lazy and greedy (selling millions of copies a year yet they still have "too small a team to really innovate" as they themselves said?). There was nothing ground breaking about PES 3, or 4 or 5 or 6, there's been nothing groundbreaking about PES for years and years, Fifa on next gen has been far more ground breaking than PES has been for perhaps a decade.
What exactly did Fifa steal from PES? That there will be 11 players a side? That a round ball will be kicked into a goal? I don't see anything in Fifa that was stolen from PES, some might argue that Be a Pro mode was borrowed from PES but considering PES borrowed that concept from Libero Grande (amongst others) that's also not true........

Guess you don't read game previews? Euro 2008 will have a "captain your country" mode where the aim is to go through qualifying as one player trying to play well enough to win the captain's armband and to qualify for the finals of the tournament, if you do well then you play in the finals as the captain of your chosen team, you can either create a new player with the aim being to build up his stats over numerous tournaments or you can use an existing player.........

Which I find great! I'm really loving the demo from just being 1 player. I mostly play as a defender just running with the ball and crossing haha
I like bum.

I'm getting worried now cause the demo is just so addictive ( if your into your football of course) so the final version is going to be probably the greatest football game ever made and that takes some doing.
