The demo wasn't that special, just like any other shooter.

lol that is NOT true. This game is another shining example of a next generation video game and this is clearly visible from playing the awesome demo that was released such a long time ago now.

Well the energy thing is a nice idea. How it depletes in the cold and you die if it reaches zero. Also the mech and the detachable weapons is cool. I do agree its very similar to an ordinary shooter but so what?! Not every game made can be unique in every way. I do think this is an ordinary shooter done exceptionally well however.
May the NFOrce be with you always.

for me it is a ordinary shooter , the game mechanics and the controls are the same like in Rouge Trooper , you can even say its the same game but different planet , different hero ...
anyway that timed outside trips look like a cool idea but in reality they are only a cheap excuse for small maps and short SP game

judging from the screens they have a major collision calculation problem - the char models' feet are always "under" the terrain. Or maybe that's deep snow, lol

halflife 1&2, unreal1&2, pretty much every FPS in existance...
all you ever do in those games is run around and shoot people, exactly like in wolfenstein3d!
they're all the same just different maps, a different hero...
rofl, sorry but that's a joke, everything has been done before, nowadays it's only a matter of how well it's done and lost planet does what it does pretty well.
if you're looking for innovation you gotta go back in time about 20 years, then you might see a something new.

I'm afraid but i think that's actually true. The first games i played were Pong and Pac Man in 83 on the VCS2600, so i have seen a lot of innovations over the years. But nowadays you hardly find any new game concepts because it's all about profits and earnings. I'm sure people still have fresh ideas, but they are turned down because companys don't want to risk money on anything new. In case anyone wonders what i think an innovative game is check out Wizball:

You are also right that today it's all about how well a game is made, Mafia is a nice example for that, it was really fun playing.
But back to Lost Planet, all i tried to say with my first post is that i won't buy it because it is too straight forward for my liking

Yeah it seems nice kinda like that horror game which got released for the old X-Box last year, where you also aran around a snowy landscape killing creatures out of a bad horror movie, what was it's name? hmm can't remember too much happened since then, but Lost Planet plays like an improved version of that without too much fussing around escorting npc's.

well i just think its nice having Capcom onboard with the 360 this time, they do make class games and Lost Planet certainly is one of them and will sell bucket loads even if whoKnows thinks its just a ordinary shooter, heck even resident evil was "a ordinary shooter" with horror elements "thrown in"
Personally cannot wait for this
