Hi, I've just ordered my christmas present - a Xbox 360 Core system with flashed firmware, VGA-cable and 64 MB memory unit. Now I would like to know if it's possible to download game patches and save them on the memory unit, or does it require a hard disk? I'm talking about normal game patches like the one that's announced for Gears of War which will fix the aspect ratio problems in 1280x1024 resolution on a TFT.

I think you need the hard drive for any live stuff including patching, demos etc...

In another forum someone told me you don't need a hard disk to download patches.

alls i got is the 64mb memory unit and get all the game patches as they are normally only a few kbs , apart from the kameo multiplayer patch which is a whopping 24mb,
i will eventually get a hdd as all the games i got take up a lot of space on the memory unit , so i have delete older game saves to play newer ones

Another question: Where are the dashboard and the dashboard updates saved when you have a Core system? Is there an internal flash memory somewhere in the 360 or is the dashboard saved on the Memory Unit? I think there must be an internal memory for the dashboard because otherwise you wouldn't be able to switch the Xbox on without a Memory Unit or HDD.
