Ok... hmm... well, I'm ashamed to ask this, since I'm familiar with all available hardware, but I really need someone's help solving my problem.

Purchased and installed a E6600 C2D processor with Asus P5N32 SLI Deluxe SE and 2GB of memory. Now that I've installed everything, it seems to work slow as hell (or I had high expectations of course). All the other parts (hard disks and other devices) were already available. Updated all drivers, nothing helps. My Pentium IV 3,2Ghz was faster than this.
Only F.E.A.R. (only game I tested so far) seems to run about 10 frames higher than usual. But still, it might be because of the Windows reinstall.

So any ideas for me ? How to test it properly, other drivers, BIOS settings, anything ?!

Thanks in advance !

Do some benchmarks and compare them to some review sites like www.tomshardware.com www.anandtech.com www.guru3d.com and check if your system is far of the marks if so check the front side bus and the memory timings in the bios. Don't focus to much on game benchmarks since I assume you have the same videocard as before your core 2 system. Try some cpu intensive benchmarks (super pi some video encoding etc.) Good luck man.

i7 3770k, GTX980, 16GB Ram, SSD Raid0, Internet 3rd world shit not worth mentioning

Thanks for the feedback. It seems to be running faster with other games too, so I guess nothing's wrong. 3DMark also gave me a higher score. Nice Cool Wink

Most of todays games are extremely heavy on VGA, so upgrading only cpu might not allways increase performance in some of them Smile

Yeah, that's also true of course. Videocard upgrade will eventually come, but that's somewhere in the first quarter of 2007, when DX10 games are going to be released.
