Ben Mendelsohn and Jason Bateman star in HBO‘s “The Outsider,” an adaptation of Stephen King‘s same-titled novel that has been set to premiere on January 12, 2020.
The 10-episode series follows police detective Ralph Anderson (Mendelsohn), as he sets out to investigate the mutilated body of 11-year-old Frankie Peterson found in the Georgia woods.
The mysterious circumstances surrounding this horrifying crime leads Ralph, still grieving the recent death of his own son, to bring in unorthodox private investigator Holly Gibney (Cynthia Erivo), whose uncanny abilities he hopes will help explain the unexplainable.

I think this is one of the shows I wait for opinions after the first full season is over. Because that trailer was bad and boring and they knew it so they threw in a non-sensical jumpscare
Good first two eps and I dislike most of King's work.

SN bullshit. King wrote some nonsn fiction but under alias.

How is it compared to the book? I watched part of the first episode and it looked like it was going to be super rushed in terms of getting to the SN part of it...

There's always a more important issue (at least to me it's very important): King is all about little details from funny bumper stickers to little words and phrases from locals. All that stuff make the juicy spicy experience. And movies/series often either cant translate it onscreen or just ignore it. So rushed or not rushed it's still a blander and liter version.
Today I didn't even need to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day. (c) - Ice Cube
