Heard about this like last year...what ever happened to the series...canceled?
Was supposed to be like Band of Brother but for the pacific theater of war.
http://www.upcomingepics.com/pacific_war/synopsis_faq.shtml

EDIT: Checked the forums on that site and BEHOLD!

Band of Brothers sequel.

"Yep, there will be a sequel. We learned a lot doing Band of Brothers, and we're going to try to raise the bar. It'll be with HBO again and Tom Hanks is executive producing. This time around we're going to follow the first Marine division through the major battles of the Pacific War. The 10 episodes so far will include Guadacanal, Peleliu, New Britain, Okinawa, and Iwo Jima. We have even a naval aviation episode focusing on the battle of Midway. We're reading scripts now. This is going to be a huge, huge, huge undertaking"

FRACKING AWESOME!...questions is when does it start?

Now thats a FRACKING good idea man...I guess it would never hapen. Had to be a German production sort of for it to work...and means basically no go.
There has been a cupple of GOOD! movies like Das Boot and Stalingrad...but thats about it.

Yeah would have to be german, sounds abit pathetic in Enemy at the gates with german/russian soldiers speaking english Very Happy even worse with their accent!

But Stalingrad is a very good example - not much nazi propaganda in that movie (is there any at all?) quite nice to see it from wermachts eyes.

LINK TO TRAILER
So reminds me of COD WAW .
Its sorta "Aussie" angled as it is from some Aussie TV channel apparently.

Still no definite news on the launch date, but it will come this year for sure.

They probably want to approach the subject of Iwo Jima without making it feel like they are copying from Clint Eastwood's movie.
