I have 6 HDD's that are connected using RAID5 and was wondering what program can be used or if one can be used to do a ghost image of the entire array. Where, in case of an emergency, could just take the ghost image (from a single large HDD?) and restore it to a new computer without having to install all the OS and software all over again.
Is this possible and what's a good program to use?

The best program for enterpsie backup and recovery is ITSM ( http://www-306.ibm.com/software/tivoli/products/storage-mgr/ ). You could use it to dump the whole file system or dumps of partitions on the TSM server. But don't bother with it if you have never used it because it's complicated and you would need a huge library wich aren'T cheap, depending on the tape techology you would choose. Of course you could also use hd's.
Now another possiblity would be to invest in a better raid controller. Since you probably want to use hd's for the backup anyway, you can buy one with raid lvl 50 or 60 wich mirror your array in the background automatically.
I don't know if applications like drive image or ghost are capable of backing up raid 5, but i guess not.

Normally it's not a problem to use Ghost. I often use Ghost(DOS version) with RAID-0 arrays and it's not a problem to make an image of the array.
I used SiS, Intel and NVIDIA SATA-controllers for it, none of them had any problem with Ghost
