Directed by Michael and Peter Spierig (Predestination) and written (last we heard some months ago) by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg (Piranha 3D). James Wan and Leigh Whannell are on-board as executive producers (then again, they've been listed as executive producers on all of them, even if I recall correctly they had nothing to do with the latter installments).
No other details, if it's a sequel, prequel, spinoff, reboot, remake, reimagining, whatever.
Even the name "Saw: Legacy" was how it was informally called some months ago, the actual title hasn't been revealed.
Coming October 27, 2017.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?
Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
I mean, the idea of horrible traps is a really fun one, the only problem I had with the franchise was the retarded story that went the entire way through the series. (Along with the bs concept that the guy tried to legitimise his sicko fantasies through some moral nonsense)
If they reboot the concept but give it a more interesting story and a more solid concept, I wouldn't mind the continuation of the franchise.
Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?
Tobin Bell is expected to appear in some capacity (even more flashbacks?), but none of the actors that played his past apprentices will.
Cast includes: Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez.

This will be a soft reboot of sorts. It makes sense to show it in theaters and see how many will be interested. If it bombs they can always make the next one straight to video.

They have always had b-cast and low budget, but made money.
And this plot sounds like most of them, to be honest.
yow im not saying they should get leo dicaprio or something like that but in the past not all of them were b actors.
like danny glover or ken leung or donnie wahlberg.
this on the other hand are all pure series or tv movie actors. how can this be good then?
i mean everything after the first (and maybe second) saw was pretty crappy too.
if they reboot it they should atleast do it right and atleast get some ok actors.
Looks like all the previous ones, I don't see a different creative direction. On the plus side the production values are better than straight-to-video (since we talked about it, above).

The first Saw was somewhat refreshing and surprisingly decent back in the day for its own genre, then the second one came out and..it was still alright despite the noticeable fatigue, but after the third copy-pasta it was time for me to call quits. I appreciate the stubbornness and persistency though, between this and Fast & Furious it's a long wearying fight till exhaustion
What a crap movie that was, very disappointing.
And to top it off it was the least violent Saw movie as well, even more family friendly than Saw 5.
Saw 7 as bad as it was and with the horrible post-processing (colours just looked wrong) at least it was very violent and thus entertaining enough (e.g. the mouth/eye stabbing device). Saw 3 remains my favorite. But this one was just poor.
I kinda guessed it half way through, honestly the first saw is a fantastic story with a great twist, they have been getting progressively worse.
For a "reboot" they really needed to try harder

we were seeing the past, also confirmed that when the bird mentioned the trap had been designed but never knowingly used
For films that have relied heavily on twists it was very disappointing. Even the deaths were naff
