Superstition is a sign of a mind that's been open for long enough to let the taint come and stay.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

taint = stain
dirty mind = gullible mind
I believe in ghosts. But I've done ghostly pictures with a slr and a digicam so I know they can be easily faked. Even those old ones. It's easier on those.

Belief in ghosts taints the mind. Belief in superstition taints the mind.
I don't know. He said it. My mind is a muddy swamp according to him

It's easily forged. Long exposure time. Fella was in chair for first 20 seconds. Then he left. And the actual lighting did it's own job. You can see the light in the background trying to take over.
Pictur is super fake I could make one

The person is clearly transparent. that's what makes him a "ghost".

Simple,
if you leave your eyes open for too long, you go blind (or start imagining seeing things).
In any case, if it's an old photo, it might as well be that the camera is old, the film is old, and the fact that old equipment is more prone to double-exposure and haphazards that yield final products, that some people spend way too much of their time confuzed about.
Reality is, it's as real as your faith. If you want to believe in ghosts, they're real to you.
However, this is what I would define as taint. As it is simply not real to me.

"Well into the 20th century, spirit photography had high-profile supporters--including the physicist Sir William Crookes and the creator of Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Many of the photographs in this exhibition were made under test conditions thought to rule out possible fraudulent acts.
But the skeptics took their toll. Led by the great illusionist Harry Houdini, investigators unmasked spirit mediums, revealing many of their "manifestations" to be nothing more than cynical tricks and sleight-of-hand.
And yet-- there are people who still believe. Some cling to the hope of contacting a departed relative. Others buy books purporting to show modern-day photographs of ghosts. Television "documentaries" claim to reveal contemporary cases of hauntings. A young film actor whispers "I see dead people" and millions feel a chill go up their spines."

Just some fun and weird photos.

And some science...or seance perhaps....

it could surely be a real photo but there is no ghost present. It’s either a poorly developed/shot photo or a planned photo that toys with exposure to make the appearance of the 'ghost'.
My guess it that it is merely a poorly shot photo that serendipitously captured something that the imagination finds human like.
So I voted fake.

I am saying that having your mind open for long enough, so you start believing in ghosts, you've managed to taint it. You simply no longer can determine what is real, and what is not. For all you know, the hobbits might exist in real life, and Tolkien might've just written a book about a real world that exists in a paralel dimension to this one.
What I'm saying is that if you go there, everything will be possible. And I suppose it's comfortable in a way.
I however think anyone who opens his mind for all of this, might as well believe in talking reindeers.
Quote: |
.. I wonder how you would deal with solitude for long periods of time .. how would you cope with the loneliness ..
|
When you're in a period of utter desperation, you use -any means possible- to survive. If that means believing in talking animals, or that you have a friendly goblin that kills your enemies, then so be it. No one can tell you that you shouldn't.
However, it is one thing to do it to survive. And a complete different thing to start looking at random pictures pointing at a double-exposure, and going: "Omfg!!1 Ghost!".
Then you're simply tricking the mind, simply because you want something to exist. Not because it really does. And that's a taint, imo.
