Its time to bitch ...

Here is the call I just logged on my ISP's website, Eclipse Internet.

I wrote:
I am really getting disatisfied with the service you are providing. I can understand the fair usage policy you support and was really annoyed with that when it first came into effect but have learned to appreciate and accept it. I understand you have many customers and bandwith is probably tough to spread between them all but when I first regraded from Flex to Evolution I was told that between 6pm and midnight I would be limited to 50gb per month. My broadband would be throttled to 2mbps during peak times and from midnight to 8am I would be uncapped.

Just lately I am being throttled to 30kbps during the day which is from about 8am to midnight! At which point it becomes uncapped and I am able to use my full bandwith. I am on an 8mb connection but due to the distance from my local telephone exchange I am only able to receive just over 4mb. 2mbps is fine but I am very unhappy with 30kbps between the hours of 8am to midnight.

I dont recall receiving any emails or notification that this would be happening and I am seriously considering seeking an alternative ISP to provide the service I need. If you are not aware of this and know nothing of it, then it could be an error that needs addressing in which case I would ask you forward my call to the technical support department for analysis please and I apologise in advance for jumping to conclusions and an unnecessary complaint.

Am I being unreasonable? Would any of you complain in my situation? Im quite sure I can get a better service elsewhere.

You are never wrong when you complain about a service for being inefficient of what advertised.
I might copy some lines for my email...Very Happy

I just saw the information you have in the location section of your profile and found that quite amusing. Are you in Hawaii or something?!

I was lucky. My ISP upgraded my DSL connection from 16Mbit to 20Mbit and they dropped the price in 2 euros. Too bad I still have a normal router, i need to buy a DSL2+.

back to topic:

When I first signed a broadband contract I chose cable. After getting a job in that same cable ISP and working there for 6 months I decided to change to DSL and I quit my job... Not that I had any problems with my connection but I saw so many bad things happening to costumers that it was a matter of principle.

Oh, and all the "bosses" were just retarded guys who liked to wear suits and had NO IDEA on how to manage a company...

They suck. Our top packet deals are 2mbit for home users and cost like a 1gbit south korean line...nope, koreans cost less.

I have 1mbit/128 and lately it got upgraded to 256 upload because I bought cable tv from them(they did it to serve that purpose:cable tv). We still rent the line from the public state provider and buy the connection from an ISP. Weeeeeeeeeeeee.....

~35 cyp(40 sterlins)/month

BUT!!!....you get port throttling, ping flactuations and server disconnects for free Smile

Or even better, move to sweden.

Currently I'm on a shitty ADSL2+ line. 24mbit down, 1mbit up (soon to be upgraded to Annex M which means 2.5mbit up:) ), no montly limit, no throttling and its totally sweet.

I can't even imagine how it would be with download limit and throttled speed Sad

Well done!! I`m with Eclipse and I did the exact same thing.. I had an email the other day saying the engineers had fixed blah blah blah and you should expect some speed increases!! low and behold, this morning 35l/sec ffs!

and I connect at 7.5Mbps! I go about 650k/sec early am!

Telia are upgrading all 24mbit lines to Annex M (2.5mbit upload) standard, the preliminary date for activation is 1st november right now. However you will need a Zyxel P600H Triple Play or another modem that is compatible with the Annex M standard.

Costs more than BBB but god I love telia, it always works. If there ever is a problem it gets fixed fast. Had a problem once and they fixed it within 2hours... Smile
