Announced during Disney Investor Day tonight, Disney is working on a television series set within the Alien universe for Hulu, with Noah Hawley developing the series!
What we know so far, which isn’t very much at all, is that the series will be set on Earth. And that’s a highly interesting tidbit, as the franchise has previously always been set in space.
Disney teases, “Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth.”
Hawley (“Legion,” “Fargo”) has been talking about pitching an Alien series to FX for a while now, but it seemed the project wasn’t actually going anywhere. Surprise, surprise!

So it takes place between Prometheus and the original Alien (or Aliens) movie? Talk about milking existing franchises instead of coming up with fresh/interesting and original ideas.

Yeah, when I think alien, "planet Earth" and "near future" is what comes to mind

“Alien is on some level the complete opposite of Stark Trek. It’s sort of about humanity at its worst,” he said. “There’s this moment in the second film when Sigourney says, ‘I don’t know which species is worse. At least they don’t screw each other over for a percentage.’ If you look at what Aliens tends to be, it’s usually a trapped story – trapped in a ship, trapped in a prison, etc. And because the Alien has this life cycle to it, where it goes from egg, to chestburster, to xenomorph, there becomes a certain routine to it.”
He continued: “I thought it would be interesting if you could expand. If you’re going to make something for television, you’ve got 10 hours let’s say. Even if you have a lot of action, like two hours, then you’re still going to have eight hours left. So what is the show about? That’s what I tried to talk to them about. As I did with Legion, the exercise is: Let’s take the superhero stuff out of the show and see if it’s still a great show. What’s the show about? Let’s take the Alien out of the show. What’s the show about? What are the themes, who are the characters and what is the human drama? Then we drop the aliens back in and we go, ‘This is great. Not only is there great human drama, but there’s aliens!’”

By blending both the timeless horror of the first Alien film with the non-stop action of the second, it’s going to be a scary thrill ride that will blow people back in their seats.
Have Scott direct the pilot. He nailed the first 2 eps of his other show.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."

"a phenomenon."

A Colonial Marines series, in the veins of Starship Troopers, would have been nice.
yeah, 20 years ago it would have been nice or just made by someone who completely doesn't care about pushing politics / virtue signaling and instead cares about the story (obviously not a realistic scenario).
Timothy Olyphant is reuniting with Noah Hawley and FX, signing on for a major role in the upcoming Alien series. Olyphant, who recurred on Season 4 of Hawley’s FX anthology series Fargo, is set to star opposite Sydney Chandler in Hawley‘s prequel to the Alien franchise, sources tell Deadline.
Details about Olyphant’s character are not being disclosed. I hear he plays Kirsh, a synth who acts as a mentor and trainer for Chandler’s Wendy who is a hybrid, a meta-human who has the brain and consciousness of a child but the body of an adult.

Executive produced by Ridley Scott, the new Alien series is set in a time period before Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley and is the first story in the franchise that takes place on Earth, roughly 70 years in the future.
Production on the show began in Thailand July 19, four days after the start of the actors strike, without SAG-AFTRA members, including Chandler. Filming continued for more than a month with cast who were affiliated with the Equity British trade union.
Production is slated to resume in early 2024, likely in January.
I personally am all up for a tv show in this world. The problem is, under 50% of Alien things end up being any good. I really hope this continues the recent momentum of higher quality writing, bigger budgets and a bit more back of basics for the franchise.

Bring back the cosmic horror and the Lovecraftian dread. Solved.
The formula is kind of spend because of Cameron's movie. I've read a lot of Alien comic books and 90% of them is basically the same - either WY wants a speciment retrieved from somewhere and all goes to hell or there is Xenomorph surprise infestation and everything goes to hell.
Alien - WY wants Xenomorph
Aliens - WY wants Xenomorph from Xenomorph infesation
Alien 3 - there's Xenomorph infestation
Alien Resurrection - WY wants Xenomorph
Alien Romulus - WY wanted Xenomorph now there is Xenomorph infestation
Alien:Covenant was kind of break from it but it was stupid in it's own way.
