Did you even consider what the new ad would look like on the site? With no branding it looks like a simple part of the site where you can download anything you want. That will certainly stop people from showing up going "Wheres the downloads" or help you maintain the appearance of no downloads while taking ad money from a scam site which lets people download...

You might want to have a close look at it. Initially looking at it before you click it, (its also an interactive ad) you'd have no idea it wasn't part of nforce. And since it actually jumps to a search on the scam p2p site, it looks like nforce is promoting it and not just getting paid to put it there.

Its not a matter of a sad way to make money, but more a matter of what type of site nforce is, and of all the things they could try and sell some ad space for, that one is a bit inappropriate. If they looked like for a minute they were actually linking to p2p it could cause an issue.

If it helps paying the bills and its not too irritating (even if it was I don't think my opinion would count for much Razz ) then it's not a big issue.

Besides think of it as a noob-filter. Those who come here for "the files" might think that finally the downloads have been thrown open. Very Happy Said noobs will most likely click on the ad and not bother us.

and since its unobtrusive, not obviously an ad and appears integrated into the site, someone could use it as an excuse to go after nforce. I have no problems with ads, its just this ad in particular doesn't seem appropriate given the context.

You got a point though considering the fact that isonews ran into problems not because of the nfos but the ads on the website. One could argue that in that case it was the website itself that was making money off of something illegal, i.e. selling mod chips. Nevertheless, it does create a weak point which could be taken advantage of.

And I miss the Mediahump banner. Sad

and its again replaced by more warez advertising.. in an add that isn't very obviously an ad. I know it says external, but the color scheme matches well, and its placed in such a way that a search would look appropriate there.

I think I pointed this out in a previous thread but I'll say it again.. The admins have already stated that they don't control the ads that get put on the site they simply control the ad company they use. If an ad gets placed on the site it is because the ad company feel it will receive the most hits out of the ad collection they provide, so unfortunately it is a bit of a double ended sword. The admins strive to remove the ads that are not conducive to NFOrces attitude about downloading, but some will always sneak through for a short time, the delays in removing the ad above is not something that can be avoided and it is being worked on by the admins.

I know the admins appreciate feedback about the site.. please try and be as constructive as possible when giving it Smile!

nah, i wouldnt want them for use anyways (glass = cold => girlfriend => getting "frigid" Very Happy) but rather to set them up as artsy objects around the appartment, just to see the look on the faces of visitors Very Happy
I have some H.R.Giger-Posters up, that tend to work the same way already =)
