Cool. Bought the original, won't buy the expansion tho. 30 bucks is way too much to ask for a expansion and esp. coming out online only(read:no paper manual to read in the bathroom, plus fancy box to open). Should be more like 15, the price of the gold minus original. I'm all about supporting an independent group like stardock but got other priorities.

Anyways looking forward to seeing what kept them working on this one so long. The original was great but it kinda lacks replayability like civ4 or rtw because the mod fanbase just isnt as active as with those games. I wish they would release the sdk to keep modders busy. Just a few star trek and babylon 5 mods don't last long. Still going to see if the new features will keep me hooked for awhile longer with so many other great games coming out...

Anyway, it was a good dig at vista, and thanks for posting the "fix", I'm sure the other 2 vista users will be happy. Wink

Just installed it in Vista. Runs perfectly with the latest Nvidia drivers (100.40 or something like that) in full screen, even at 1680 x 1050.

No issues.

*sniff* but the doc told me i had a normal sized e-penis *sniff* Sad

Anyway, that's not how it should be *pionts to the sticky* and I DO find it anoying to have to wade throught technical stuff just to find out what a game is like, read user reviews and the like. But whatever, you're obviously far superior to me in the ways of nforce. Heaven forbid I've been here since the old Isonews went FBI. I certainly don't know what I'd do without your guidance.

It was a funny dig at vista, and you got all uptight over it. I just called you on it

I don't suppose anyone has seen cracked patches floating around for galciv2 dark avatar? I know the original had its patches cracked as soon as they were released. It is a bummer that I didn't need them then(bought the orig game) but now I do. I think the price that is being charged for an expansion-especially for just downloading the blasted thing! is a ripoff when I got the orig game for that price(30usd). Seems like stardock has grown a wee bit greedier with their success and think their expansion is worth more than it should be. When it comes down by half I'll get it but till then wish someone would crack the patches like the original.

Damn so it _should_ be easy to find em. Guess I'll just wait until someone feels the urge to share em somewhere. I would if I bought dark avatar, but like I said, 15 bucks for a downloaded expansion with no manual etc, sounds about right, not 30.

yes - it could be easy - patch download to different folder before selfupdating the game - but it isnt very popular game. Just like the pre expansion patches - all was cracked by peoples that doesnt belong to offcial scene groups.

Just letting everyone know that the latest update (1.6 beta 3) is out there and has been cracked.

And ALL the updates ARE protected and need a valid serial/email to use them. It's no different from
the original GalCiv 2. People had to crack the activation process for any of the updates to work.

Bought GalCiv+ DA Expansion for $44 from their site a couple of months ago. It's really worth it, they update quite often + the customer support is very good (both good at responding on the forums + listening to what updates their custormers want the most).

I bought Civ4 as well but i just cant get into it after playing Dark Avatar (havent played the original GalCiv2 since it lacks some functions compared to D.A.), seems kinda crappy imo..
