Flyboys.Squadron-Unleashed
Quote: | FlyBoys Squadron combines skills building and strategy, with the thrill of flying and the pressure of relentless combat. Players encounter a wide range aircraft such as the Nieuport 17 biplane modeled after authentic WWI fighter planes from the Flyboys movie. Game missions mirror the movie's action, as flyers ascend and fight over real terrains in Europe, modeled and mapped from real satellite data. From fight engagements, to bomber escort missions, to shooting down a Zeppelin, the game provides hours of battle without the blood of many of today's hyper-violent games. FlyBoys Squadron tests players' abilities to take off and land safely, learn evasive and attack maneuvers and manage resources such as fuel and ammunition while achieving increasingly challenging mission objectives. FlyBoys Squadron keeps the tension of battle high, but eliminates the hassle of too much flight simulator activity.
|
Features:
Quote: | The single player flight simulation and dogfighting game includes 12 missions with four different skill levels, more than 25 Instant Action missions that are different every time they are played, 3 secret missions, and the ability for players to fly in any one of 10 different terrains with more than 100 different planes and vehicles.
* Realistic World War I flying game with over 10 authentic airplanes
* 12 single player missions based on the movie
* Special dynamic online missions, with regular updates and online events
* Earn ranks and medals that unlock new features
* Bonus Easter Egg missions |

Is this a tribute to the Amigas Wings?
They certainly used the graphics from that era.

A game based on a movie that bombed. The game is sure to be a hit with that interface.
Can you believe that this game is "pay to play" online!? Amazing.

Wings of Honor: Battles of the Red Baron (far better than this) Also happens to be the semi official followup to Knights of the Sky, which I think is the game you're referring to Jenni as that was the only game during the Amiga era which had missions and not just mindless gunfights.

NAh Epsilon. Theres just some games that should never be forgotten. Wings was one of them for me.
Wings has been though of as a milestone in computer entertainment.
I would agree. It was one of the best games on the Amiga.

Well to quote a user on Cinemaware comments.

So looks like we can agree to disagree
I also think Cinemaware produced far better games than Wings, but different tastes for different people

The people that praise the game far outweigh the people that don't.
I think that's the testament to the games endearing qualities.
