Hi guys ,

Is it possible for me to watch / record tv from my sky tv onto my pc? My LCD tv is now my computers display which is connected via the VGA Cable , and i have a Radeon 9800XT Graphics card which supports video in/out , if it is possible do i need anything else to achieve this? and can someone point me in the direction on how to get it all connected.

Kind Regards
Dog

are u sure your radeon supports video in? is it an all in wonder? If so you'll have your aerial tv coaxial wire connected to the pc, right?

on doom9 you'll find some nice guides to record moviez from a tv/video source.

hope it helps! Smile

You will be able to record from Sky. However you will only be able to record analogue. And you will need a TV capture card. Unless you card is an AIW like Seimour said. You will also need an IR transmitter to change the channel on your sky box. And then you will need to sync your PC with your Sky box.

I did hear you can hack a Sky+ box to obtain the data directly from the HDD. Which may be an easier way all round. But this way would only work for shows recorded and not live TV. you will still need a TV capture card to view live TV.

There are no clean ways to do what you want via a PC. Probably because of DRM rights and other copyright issues. Shame. I have tried to do what you want, and that's best I can come up with.
