Take a look at www.unilang.org though there are pretty few sources for korean overall. Though I'd say korean is easier than japanese, especially in writing/reading. Although japanese is alot easier to pronounce and spell, but it's "funnier" to speak korean. Chinese and japanese are probably the "best" ones to learn as of today due to their huge industries. Once you got a grip of japanese I suggest you take a look at korean (or the other way around) since the grammar are pretty similair.

I've been studying both korean and japanese for quite a while now, haven't got the time to take a look at chinese yet. Korean might not be very usefull if you're not planning to move there or such, but it's certainly good to know a language nontheless. Also, I really suggest you should take some classes, it really helps. Especially in japanese since when you're past the basic grammar it gets pretty difficult imho. Though, I've been lucky enough to get my "own" korean teacher who also speaks japanese which is alot of help.

By the way, don't try to learn the korean script (hangul) using translitterations since they don't reflect the signs as they are pronounced. This goes with every language that aren't using latin letters. But it's almost impossible when it comes to korean. Just learn how they are pronounced and forget about translitterations.
Have fun learning a new language, it's definatley worth it once you get a hang of it Smile

If you want to learn japanese go and memorize all Hiragana and all Katakana, you dont need specific websites, they are everywhere and you can easily find a chart containing all of them. Only then can you begin to look at the kanji, dont even bother with them beforehand.

Take lessons. I was lucky enough to take Japanese elective modules with my main degree at university. Don't really have enough discipline to buckle down and learn alone I guess.

D4rkKnight is right with learning the basic kana sets first. Spent about 2-3 weeks on it til I had it down. A textbook with set vocabulary/themes in chapters would probably help after this.

The pimsleur audio sets only focus on spoken language.. good if that's all you're looking for.

Mandarin/Cantonese Chinese is probably going to be harder to learn, especially alone. Even in the native countries, kids are taught in an exhaustive manner of repeatedly writing pages of the same character (of which there are over 50,000 unique ones). Still, not impossible of course if you are dedicated enough Smile
