The Pentium D's are worthless. Get a Core 2 Duo.. simple as that.

Intel wins atm, as sYn said: Buy the Core 2 Duo they have excellent gaming capabilities and have 2 cores aswell.

all of there core 2 processors perform better then anything from amd now and are a ton cheaper then amd processors.

intel is king n0w it's a verry good time to upgrade cpu because of this!

I have used both AMD and Intel over the years, and basically it is a mouse-race. One month AMD has the lead, another Intel is leading. They try to race each other all the time, always coming up with better technology that counters the opponent.

So who is really the best? I would say none.

In Jan 800mhz FSB core2duo's will be released which are cheaper and over clock easier on cheap mobos. AMD plan to release quad quores in Q1 2007.

Are you sure? Wink

If you check that comparison report then I'm not so convinced that Intel has better PPD (Perfomance Per Dollar). The price tag difference of Intel's Core 2 Duo Extreme and AMD's Athlon 64 FX-62 Dual Core is about 200-300 dollars.

The perfomance gain of Intel's newest processor is only marginal. I know...the bars in the graphs of Intel's processors seem to be much longer, but the measurement scale is also very dense Wink I mean they measure it in nanoseconds or tenths of units etc making the difference of 1 unit a biggie Razz

Regarding the games benchmarks....well the games were written and optimised for Intel platforms which is also nothing new Wink

Yes im sure, trust me, your wrong Razz..

The lowest end Intel Core 2 Duo can be made to out perform the AMD's FX-62 with very little fuss, that alone makes it true.

[edit]

Only the "intel driven" benchmarks where done using games specifically designed for the platform.. there are many more benchmarks out since which show the same/similar results based on none optimized games.

OK...OK

I'm not going to argue...

one prefers moms the other daughters Razz

we'll see in about 3 months or so who's on top Wink

I use top notch Intel at work (I'm a developer so basically I get a new Intel rig to play with every time a new major project is coming in) and mediocre AMD at home and I feel that I'm going for AMD when I have to upgrade my home rig...which is actually overdue allready Razz
