I for one was looking forward to it, last I heard it was set to release for 2005? New Carmageddon game with today's graphics would be something really awesome.

I remember playing the first over, and over, and over... and over.... then the second came out and trying the demo (with Zombiefied pedestrians...) it ran at something like 2 frames per second - but I still persevered with it

heh I loved collecting all the cars there was a patch out where you could run nakid pedastrians and with blood as you know in the UK it was censored, I played 1 to death 2 a little (man it looked good with my voodoo 3) and tdr although I only played tdr for an hour before packing it away lol...I still have it somewhere Smile

Yes there was. Carmageddon 4 was planned for summer 2005, but was delayed (probably cancelled for now). Shame really, it was (and still is) my favorite game.

Wish I could play Carma 2 in higher resolutions. It would rock Cool

Times have changed and if there will ever be a 4th Carmageddon it won't be as gory as its prequels...imagine what you could do to the peds with a 2006 next gen graphics engine: When I close my eyes I see screaming peds desperately holding on the bumper and getting reduced to pulp in an head on crash...fat people trying to run away vainly (with a Bigmac in one hand), twitching seperated bodies stuck in the windshield and cars getting vertically split in two parts (I loved that in carma 2). There would be a massive outrage especially among Americans and Germans, tons of lawyers sueing SCI, the game would be rated AO and gets banned everywhere. Especially nowadays most games are trimmed to reach a wide audience (like EA does) so that they can make the maximum amount of $$$. The totally same applies to a Soldier of Fortune sequel (if there will ever be one). The good times are over - there is too much money involved already and no one will take a risk and release such an outlaw game (even if it already has a cult following!) btw: http://wasted.polygonized.com/detail.php?id=682 with that you can play carmageddon 2 in up to 1280x1024 and if you tweak the ini a bit its possible to remove all the fog and have no limit in viewing range. The game looks waaay better then

Yep, in this time of two-faced morality, dont expect this happening. Some messed up neglected kid will steal the car from his wasted father and run over a sweet little lady in the neighbourhood or even worst over some 2nd grade blond kid. Then he'll tell cops he wanted to make a double combo and all hell will break loose Sad

All the hi-profile gamin companies now have three layers of executives and risk-managment departments that will put an end to any such idea even before it hits the paper.

If anything even remotely similar to Carma comes out it will come from Indy scene (and it probably wont be called that since some fatass sits on the copyright). I consider them the last hope of PC gaming, relying on the internet as their distribution, they cannot focus on the droolbox, and are thus free to use the mouse and keyboard. They just need to do a few cycles with 3rd grade logical puzles to collect enough cash to finance a better project. There still may be hope for PC games as we know them, including Carma.

Thanks for the help, but already had that file. The problem is, even if I set the resolution to 1280x1024 it still runs in 640x480. Very strange, because it seems to work for most other people.
