The Warlock of Firetop Mountain

  • Developer: Tin Man Games
  • Genre: Tabletop, Adventure
  • Release date: 31 Aug, 2016
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:
The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is a tabletop adventure come to life! This fantasy solo RPG combines unique, simultaneous turn-based combat with a journey that changes based on each figurine you take into Firetop Mountain! Which hero will you take into Zagor's lair THIS time?

The original 1982 Fighting Fantasy paperback by Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson has been transformed into an epic domain, with new areas to explore, characters to meet, and of course, monsters to slay! Zagor's home builds right before your eyes as you travel deep into the belly of the mountain.

Each character has their own motivations for being in Firetop Mountain, changing the way the gamebook is written and choices presented. Combat is fought using the digital miniatures in a simultaneous, real-time system called GridBluff, and the game includes over 100 unique hero and monster figurines to discover.

I remember the original novel. This is an...interesting interpretation of it.

Had the orignal for spectrum when i was a kid. All i wanted then was platformers and action. Laughing

Now this looks really good. Smile

EDIT: Hope it fares better than the LoneWolf, that were great books/games, but the PC adptation was not so good.

Can remember the book well! fingers in about 4 or 5 pages to avoid the lame instant-deaths.

Did love it though, went on and bought most of the series after it - when they did their solo books I always found the livingstone ones much better than the jackson ones.

Edit:

Quite enjoyable, when i played the books as a teen i dreamed with this kind of graphics setting.
Just completed the quest as the mercenary dude on the first run! Used two of the life stones though, and even as i discovered the antidragon fire spell, when the game asked me if i wanted to go on and hunt for the warlock, or return to town, i cowered and returned in shame to spend my gold in booze at the tavern. Sad
Its well done and the combat although simplistic works well. All in all its worth a try for anyone who likes the genre or like was said has "found memories". Very Happy
