Well, it is finnally confirmed...we will have authentic lightsaber battles on the Nintendo Wii brought to you curtesy of lucasarts. After much speculation and denial from lucasarts--oh screw it, read for yourself...

The force is strong with you, young padawn wii. Very Happy

I wouldn't start celebrating just yet. LucasArts games are often poor quality, plus we don't know how well the Wii controller and camera will handle virtual swordfighting.

But in Red Steel they don't really use your movements for the sword fights, your movements only trigger predetermined actions. This sucks. I hope the lightsaber game will really use your movements with the controller 1:1. That would be cool!

Yeah, that would be cool, but a little difficult with all the insane combos and shit they do in the movies Smile

Well i have read that lucasarts were at E3 with some new technology they will be using in the new Indy game and now star wars game dealing with character animation, called "Natural Motion". So instead of characters jerking from one animation to another, everything looks more natural and moves are all smooth and junk. Anyways seems like a perfect thing for star wars lightsaber fightin with wii. I can see an infinite number of combos and moves you can come up with and link freestyle, if they (hopefully) go with 1:1 control.

The best thing we got so far to come close has been jedi outcast with the dismemberment cheat on, and that game is so old i cant bare to play it anymore.

And yeah there has been some outright losers comin from the brand, but maybe they are turning themselves around? Empire at war was not a game to sneeze at. And i figure if they make good on this one, all past sins are forgotten Very Happy

Also: not confirmed or anything, but just read that it is supposedly centering around darth vader's exploits. So yeah, how cool would it be to play as the "dark side" this time around? Twisted Evil

Not if it's made by Bioware (KOTOR), Obsidian (KOTOR2) or Raven (SOF1/SOF2/Jedi Academy).

???? Are you serious. Jk, Jk2 and JA all were amazing. And could, IMO; be easily addapted for a Wii controller, 3rd or 1st person. What Lucas games are really pour quality?

3rd person? Hmm I don't know. I wouldn't want to control 3rd person sword fighting with the Wii controller. I hope it will be 1st person!

Yeah? There are not many. Some people claim most Star Wars games are poor but the truth is almost all of them are pretty good.

i said 3rd person or 1st person becasue jk2 and JA you could switch between both views while using the light saber. And in jk2 or JA you really needed the 3rd person view while using the light saber. I hope its both. Smile

Ok, how about the "Obi Wan" game for the Xbox? Didn't get very high reviews. For that matter, what about a lot of the games that came out of Ep:1? Rebellion? There are others that are escaping my memory at the moment. Suffice it to say I'm not the first to say this, although I'll admit they've had some really great and fun games too. The Jedi Knight games were amazing, as well as some other great games. I remember logging many an hour in an X-Wing.

As for the Red Steel comment, the concept sounds like fun but the game itself didn't look that impressive to me. When I see a real swordfight accurately simulated and mixed with gameplay that doesn't become stale after 30 minutes, I'll be impressed. I'd imagine waiving your wii around swordfighting would become tedious (and painful) after a while.
