I know this is an odd thread to put up and im not the type to generally plug products from online stores but.....

Little over a month ago I treated myself to one of the Joytech PS2 TFT monitors mainly down to the fact that I find myself in the position of having a gaming room with more than a few PC's, Xboxes, PS2, Dreamcast, Digital receiver, Video, Standalone DVD Player etc all competing for space under my TV and the relevant scart sockets - the immediate space around my TV is a fucking mess.

Anyway in buying that product which was cheap at £49.99 I got a pretty decent quality monitor which allows me to use the PS2 wherever I want without the mild inconvenience of unplugging/plugging rerouting wires, finding space, finding free plug sockets in and around my TV. I also saw it as a great way to phase out the old PS2 and make space under the telly for a 360.

The picture quality is fine and since buying the product I haven't even considered putting my PS2 into my largescreen TV, it also effectively turns the PS2 into a portable DVD player and as a bonus there are connectors on the back of the monitor which act as pass through cables meaning you don't have to disconnect the monitor when you do feel the need to reconnect it to your TV.

Anyhow thought I would point those that are interested in the direction of a real bargain. The Xbox version is currently retailing for £29.99 at Play, I had been considering getting one for a while now but had been put off by paying £80-£100 where as £29.99 is almost giving them away - fancied a new toy so purchased one on the strength of a review over at XboxScene and the PS2 monitor previously mentioned (and the price...obviously).

btw slight downside to these monitors is that they can't display 60hz signals which may put some people off, obviously there made for european Xboxes running euro games/dvds.

Idea Thankyou for the genius idea - play a gameboy instead, why didn't I think of that myself. Idea

I shall return both the PS2/Xbox TFT Monitors with immediate effect....return reason being: items no longer needed - its possible to play the entire back catalogue of both the PS2/Xbox, pretty much every emulator going, watch DVDs and run XBMC using a Gameboy instead.

Phew, and to think I almost wasted £80.

*dusts off Gameboy*

thx

Seriously though im kind of aware that the screen is small, thats the whole point. The reason I purchased these items was because of the low price and as it happens the purchase turned out to be money well spent, plus I saw huge practical implications in using them just due to my setup.

I also know that others like the idea of these mini TFT monitors and thought I would create a thread incase anyone missed the offer on play to point out that the site is clearly trying to get rid of old stock in preparation for the next gen consoles and Joytechs forthcoming line up which incidentally includes newly designed mini TFT monitors for the 360.

btw for those that aren't playing Table Tennis on their Gameboys ( Wink ) I see that Play are selling it for £17.99, bargain for those 360 owners that were swaying between buying it or not.

Yeah, I used to love stuff like this site http://benheck.com/book/index.htm .

Obviously not retail products like you and I are referring to just some talented guy with access to the right materials/tools and CNC machinery, stripping the original machines back to the electrical components then rebuilding them from the bottom up to include a custom case, mini speakers and monitor.

He even made a portable Atari 2600 Razz
