I recommend "The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories ", contains many of his best stories. Be sure to also get "At The Mountain Of Madness".

Lovecraft is one of the best horror-writers ever, period. However, I would be sure to have an astute knowledge of english (unless you're reading something translated), as he wrote an advanced form of the language. I would call it insane at points, which he was too Razz

I'm guessing it's because you played the game you think that. It's not really one of his best at all, it's short, and alone gives no the history of the deep ones. It shows you haven't read any of his others.

I have read all his others, way before I even touched the game. I don't think you have any right to assume about me anything. I just expressed my opinion that's all.

Second, the game itself doesn't reflect the book at all, the developers have changed a lot of things.

If you've really read all his others (which I doubt) I find it hard to believe you would pick Innsmouth as his best. It's got nothing on The Dunwich Horror for example, and the mythos itself is far deeper. Innsmouth is pretty good when considered together with his other stories, but alone it's almost a generic horror story about an isolated town.

On a forum assumptions are all we've got. Deal with it.

Yup, those are two really great adventure games. Prisoners of Ice is one of my all-time favourites.

Yeah, I was a bit of a twat earlier. But his other books are so much better, so much more involving I couldn't see how you would pick Innsmouth as his best, unless you hadn't read his others. Each to his own I guess, if you like it thats fair enough.

I think alot of people will have read Innsmouth after playing the game, so it wasn't a bad assumption, just a wrong one. Smile
