Can't believe this is the only thread.. Excellent documentary. It mentions that specific political parties are not to blame... I agree, personally I think the problem is rooted in greed and apathy. Unfortunately, these two traits are so deeply intertwined in Americans and the "American Dream" that America has become the next Titanic. Sinking slowly at first, but accelerating more and more...

pretty amazing documentary, it has answered all the remaing doubts I had about the war of Iraq and many other foreign policys of the US goverment, imo, it's about time for the american people to make their voice heard against the imperialist and capitalist goverment currently in power, and completely renew their agenda. basicly, every single american people that still believes in democracy must ask themselfs "is this really democracy?, or is our goverment the real evil we think we're fighting elsewhere in the world".

But why? Of course people will speak out on internet forums and perhaps in a demonstration or two, but to what effect? No one is willing to do what it takes... And I have to ask, do you think there is really anything someone could do to get the masses to do anything?

They don't give a shit. They have their big TV's, porn on the internet, and a fancy car. Who cares what goes on with the government? All the government has to do is to make small changes infringing on their liberties... Which is exactly what has been going on since 9/11.

I really believe there is no hope. The only chance we have will probably be made by some terrible catastrophe...

9/11 was already a terrible catastrophe on it's own, and every day in Iraq it sure is a jackpot of catastrophes every single day, what would it take for people to do what it takes? a nuclear war?

well, the way thing's are going we can sure wait for Mr G.W. Bush to iniciate a preemtive nuclear war on North Korea or Iran or some other place that goes against Mr Bush's way.

everyone knows what's happening and everybody just sits quiet.

in this documentary, when they showed all those people around the world against the war on Iraq on february 2003, the first thing I tought was, "it shouldn't have been 10 million people worldwide, it should have been 3 billion or more"

but it just seems all went "acording to plan" the whole world was boling with rage against the muslim world because of 9/11, and for all the american people who saw it live, or lost anyone, it was just the rightfull revenge against the ones who murdered all those people, but now, 3 years after the beginning of the war on Iraq, 5 years after 9/11, even those people who lost someone on 9/11 are beginning to understand that their "lovely democratic goverment" is using the american peoples grief and despair and money to follow their own imperialist agenda.

but to answer your question, I also don't think that's nothing that could be done in the close future, only wait that the Bush administration comes to an end and the following admnistration correct the errors of the last 8 years.

i wouldnt bank on it, id think the certain people are waiting for some incident to occur so they can attack iran or north korea.

it doesnt matter how many innocent people are killed in iraq by the us millitary as that sort of thing wont get wide coverage on us tv as theyre all in someway influenced by the government (for instance wanting more deregulation from the fcc).

well it shows that both parties are more or less the same, doesnt seem to make much difference which you vote for. the amount of millitary spending in the us is getting ridiculous, i dont see how they can keep it up.

excellent documentary, are there any other recommendations?

you missed mine Sad

have you seen 'The Fog of War'?

Won an academy award, probably the most important, interesting, educational and depressing documentary I've ever watched. Hey, it also increased my respect for the elderly too! Very Happy Watching Robert McNamara at 80 apologizing and rationalizing the activities of the US during the 60s/70s is really unbelievable .. the man is fucking tight and knows his shit, even at that age. Smile

hunter s. thompson had a point on fairness in modern warfare though, in reference to 9/11; (not exact words, but meaning is same)
it was said in the media everywhere after the attacks that these guys were cowards
now.. these were guys who totally believed in something, and they acted on it.. they went onto a plane without any proper weapons, hijacked it, held it and slammed it into the sides of buildings
sacrificing themselves for their cause
now that's pretty much the largest sets of balls committing that that i can think of without feeling gay
and in the meanwhile, modern american warfare of similiar goals is a man sitting in a booth playing a videogame, miles away from the target
his biggest worry of the day probably being what food the canteen brings

loose change is a conspiracy theory
a lot of fantasy and wishful interperation
but raises some good points about 9/11
definately worth a look, as long as you keep in mind that the author may be a bit out there

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8260059923762628848&q=loose+change
that's the official and legal distribution at google video btw
