I Have made plans to kayak there but they fell thru 2 times now. 
As far as the Bears, You can get eaten any time, Prob. closer to civill. then anywhere else. I have never had a prob with bears and they walk right by the tent in the morning.

kayak? to alaska? from bc? Are you like in Northern BC? I'd think Vancouver to Alaska would be one hell of a long trip...in a kayak, on water, with no bathrooms...
