HOMM V is totally f*cked for some people. It's unstable with so many common video configurations that Nival must have play tested it on 7 computers they had lying around and left it at that. Better wait for the inevitable patch.
Sorry that isnt very helpful, but I'm in the same boat and no one at Nival or Ubi has anything useful to say. Putting out a game that experiences hard reboot crashes in Windows XP is just pathetic.
