there is no BG3 -_-
saga ended with throne of bhaal , dark alliance 1 and 2 are not really story related .
nothing to continue after throne of bhaal ...
besides throne of bhaal puts you to level 40 and thats already kinda half god in AD&D , i dont think there is anything stronger in the forgotten realms ...
if there would be a BG3 it would defenitly be based on some kind of new 3D engine , and a new story ... so it woulnt be called BG3 , on top of that bioware is no more ... also not interplay ... so u see BG3 rights are usless ...
just wait for nevewinter nights 2 , gonna own couse they said they are focusing mainly on single player now .

Bioware made the Infinity Engine, as well as Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and the expansions for each. Black Isle made Fallout 1 & 2, Planescape: Torment, and all the Icewind Dale stuff.
BG3 ... not gonna happen. Same with Icewind Dale 3. The best you can hope for is that Dragon Age is as much a "spiritual successor" as Bioware claims it will be. I have my doubts, since it's using a fully real-time engine, but it's better than nothing and at least it isn't first person.

Atari said in like 2004 that BG3 was in pre-production, but nothing else was said.
Can't seem to find the source for that anymore, but I clearly remember reading it.

Bioware already said IWD2 was the last game to use the infinity engine, which is a shame. I was hoping for at least an expansion with it.
Play Temple of Elemental Evil if you want that old feel. Patch it, and get the co8 fan patch (www.co8.org) It fixes stuff and fleshes out a lot of the things that got buggered.
Fans are also working on a complete overhaul (including new maps and graphics) to the game to recreate Keep on the Borderland using the ToEE engine.

well obviously bioware is busy with other stuff right now. also if they were to make bg3 it would probably be more action oriented. they are not that good anymore. well in fact lets wait and see what they are up to. efter jade empire im a bit sceptic.

I miss the infinity engine. When they switched to 3d graphics with Neverwinter Nights I was very disappointed, it just doesnt feel right.

the infinity engine wasnt that good ... it was used properly in great games but the engine it self sucked , they could do so much more , 3D NPC's over animated 2d scenery , like doors actually opening instead of close ---> fully opened in a tick , add to that some anti alaising and some shaders and it would rock , NVM full 3d engine kinds sucked also , full 3d has its drawbacks like crappy scenery that repeats it self , with 2d they can draw diffrent scenery everywhere that can be unique

You do realize that the Infinity Engine was created in 1998, and the only major updates they made to it were to add higher resolution support and some D&D rule set changes? IE certainly wasn't perfect in its adaptation of the rules--pretty much the only engine which can come close to claiming that would be ToEE--but there was nothing at all wrong with the graphics for its time.
I've tried tutu and I'd highly recommend against using it for the first time through the game. Using the BG2 rules in BG1 messes some things up, and I found the game to be way too easy with tutu. If you do decide to use it anyway, go with EasyTutu instead of the link above.

You're using the BG2 engine and rules in BG1 when you install the tutu mod. New spells, kits, etc. are available to the player, but the NPCs aren't updated at all.
