that's my question... i've always liked the linux enviroment, but as a gamer, it always sucked.

maybe times changed? im talking about three years ago, when no game besides q3 ran in linux. how is it today?

can i run the latest games there? how is it the directx enviroment? still emulated?

thx for the up-to-date Very Happy

It will *ALWAYS* be emulated, its not like M$ are going to give up the information to DirectX.. however the emulation has improved lots, not that I have played with it much myself..

Emulation ain't that good to be honest. Sure its a LOT better then it was before but still not that good. performance is lacking but atleast the games run.

As for OpenGL games more of them would have a change of running in a Linux enviroment if it weren't for the fact that they still depend heavily on DX for sounds and other stuff.

I hope that someday developers will start using real crossplatform developing tools instead of just whoring windows. I guess that day will start coming when MS decides that windows should not be pirated anymore... Very Happy
