It's much lower quality than a HDTV rip.

no DSR = Digital Sattelite Rip. Meaning it's capped with an analouge card via a digital sattelite reciever. So it's not the transport stream they cap. Transport stream caps are called PDTV = Pure Digital TV stream.

So SFM was talking lies in their NFO?

Quote from Stargate.Atlantis.S01E04.WS.DSRip.XviD-SFM:
"DSRip - Not TVRip, Not TIVO, the actual Digital Transport Stream from the Satellite Provider." Question
Although they do not mention if they cap it analogue or digital, but since PDTV means Pure Digital, it has to be analogue?
Or is there a difference between DSR and DSRip, guess not?

1) this should be in n00b section

2) DSR = Direct Source Rip (i think) which means they rip it from the source either firewire on cable box or a DVB card, it is of lower resolution than PDTV. DSR, PDTV and HDTV are ALL direct rips which will give best quality.
a reguar analogue rip via svideo is just TVRip
