1899.S01.2160p.NF.WEBRip.x265.10bit.HDR.DDP5.1-TrollUHD - nothing dubbed. Everything's in original language.

I watched Dark, and I watched this. Dark was much, much, much better.
This was a classic mystery box series with A LOT of logical inconsistencies, which I hate. Tried to be smart, came off as smartASS.
Also: Dark didn't have a hint of woke in it. This had plenty of it, and most woke dialogue was completely out of place here.

watched 2 episodes. so boring. fuck anything with hallucinations or "visions" as a theme, it ruins everything since anything can happen and be explained with "ha! it was only a hallucination!"

Yep deleted it on ep. 3 or 4, It's like Lost with no interesting characters and 10x more stupid shit happening. A shame as the setting and production are quite good.
Spoiler: |
Ok mysterious boat - at this point good, give me some slow burn character driven sci-fi.
unexplained boy - meh
unexplained magic pyramid - meh
man with ipad dissapears ship, ship re-appears - meh
passengers start to zombie overboard for no reason - meh
Cabins have portals to another world - zzzZZz
3 second clip of multiple boats suggesting multi-verse etc.
Magical bugs can make portals -- fuck this shit.
All in 4 episodes - delete.

It wasn't so bad
Two things did annoy me though
Spoiler: | 1. The amount of conversations between people who can't understand eachother. They don't speak the same language. Yet there are these drawn out interactions and they have no idea what is actually being said. If it happened once or twice, okay, but it was just silly.
2. The ending could be her waking up in yet another simulation, there's never any way to tell. So they can basically do anything then just say 'well, it was a simulation'.
And as always, more questions than answers after the final episode |

I'm liking it so far I'm going along the ride without questioning too much really, there's little point when it's a fantasy tale like this, the more bizarre it gets the happier I am
Same complaint as Interinactive ! Right ? I don't get how these people magically sort of understand each other, especially when their respective languages have no common roots at all. It gets reaaally absurd at times.
I guess the woke part is Spoiler: | the gay love triangle with the Spaniard, the Portuguese guy and Kesper ; that and Jérôme getting fucked over by Lucien (plus the fact that his wife is very, very fond of Jérôme for apparently little reason) ? I don't know, I'm grasping at straws too.
Edit : Okay, that trousers scene was lame as fuck , but it really doesn't take much for your woke'o'meter to go red... |

They had an interesting premise in their hands but decided to completely squander it, what a rotten way to d̶i̶e wake up. I watched it yesterday night and I too was left disappointed. The show genuinely felt like another AI-generated entity that was fed [random supernatural tropes] along with [Netflix melodrama] and then was left running with no rules whatsoever for a few weeks, expecting the viewer to clap at things looking cool on the screen.
It had none of the elegance and cleverness of Dark in my opinion, which also dealt with fantasy elements but it did it in a cohesive way, with proper writing/depth and little Netcringe involved. Tick tack, tick tack, nein!

I really enjoyed it, but I do value mystery and atmosphere very highly and it delivers on that for me. I had no problem with the drama either, and the characters I found interesting.
Like TheZor said above, the weirder, the better.
Every episode had reveals and also new interesting mysteries to think about and it didn't let up until the end.
Overall not quite as good as Dark's first season but very promising and from what I've read, they got a 3 season plan again where this all comes together.
Very much looking forward to S2
-edit-
In regards to people magically understanding each other while speaking different languages - I never got that feeling in this show.
Yes, people say stuff to each other in their own native language, and the other person might say something back in their own, but that doesn't mean they actually understood each other's words.
There's body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, and context/situation that can all help you understand what someone means without understanding the words they speak and they conveyed that beautifully imo

I liked it. Not as good as Dark but still ok.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Surprising no one, Netflix decided not to renew this pos.
So congrats, you wasted your time watching this poor series with a ton of unresolved questions and a cliffhanger at the end.

why would anyone watch this.. it was terrible.
don't brainwash yourself with garbage, eventually it will be your new norm of "good", rewatch something great instead, or look elsewhere (other countries, new genres)

Hasn't even been out for that long, strange decision no matter what your views on it are. Some people may have not even got round to watching it yet...

Oh come on you schmucks, it wasn't that bad. I've seen far worse in my life that had me entertained.

Same thing, it didn't look like it was going to be as coherent or clever, but it was fun for what it was. I would have liked to figure out what the hell that experiment was about. Welp !
