I have no idea where to find a good tool to convert MPEG2 (.mpg file) to AVI.
Virtualdub won't open the file for me (its recorded on TV with my TVcard, and no its not HDTV or DigitalTV).
This is what i plan to do:
1: convert .mpg to .avi
2: Cut the commercials with Virtualdub
3: Rip the avi to 700MB XviD
well, you can use 1. avisynth and make a script to frame serve your mpeg2 file and then open that up with virtualdub. 2. use virtualdubmod (different from vdub) to directly open the mpeg2 without the hassle of using an avisynth script - all these tools are free and somewhat easy to use.
