Hey,
I decided it's time to make the jump from agp to pic-e, olny thing is i don't have much money so its just gonna be a cpu, motherboard and new vid.

Due to the lack of funds, i was going to just go for an x800 GTO to tie me over, but im just wondering, ive seen you can get an x1600 for around the same price.

Which do u think would be the better card the x1600 support that 3.0 shaders or what ever they are? would that be of any benefit?? I've looked arounf and the the x1600 looks to be on the lower end of the scale for those model cards??

I don't know, what do you think would be better, or even a different option all together but keep in mind i can't really afford a 7800 or anything to that extent. any help??

From what I've heard the X1600 is kinda bad performer. See if you can find a X800GTO^2 (no idea how to do those "uplifted" 2). But if you can get such one from Sapphire somehow then you will most likely be able to unlock it into a X850XT PE... Very Happy

To type a superscript² hold down the alternate key and enter 253 on the right keypad. Release the alt key and it shows up.

Yeah i was looking into getting one of those GTO² and unlocking it. i was also looking into a 6800GS, heard anything on them, them seem to go alright, but yeah i think if i can get one to unlock to the x850, that would be the best option.

Do you know If it's hard to unlock, i'm pretty good at this stuff so im sure i could do it, just if someones had some experience in doing it would be handy.

Haven't got anything for my pc in well over 1-2 yrs, so i've gotta catch up on everything.

Unlocks varies between different models and brands. The soldering/connecting part could be done on the Geforce 4 lineup in order to make them Quadro cards... Razz

I have a 16 pipe unlocked GTO² that i am about to get rid of, doing clocks of 620 core and 640 mem, way above X850 XT PE speeds.
Its just a case of flashing a new bios to it to unlock the extra pipes.
