First detected as early as 2002, the assault, known as a distributed reflected denial-of-service (DRDoS) attack, bombards targeted Web servers with such massive amounts of spurious data that even flagship technology companies would not be able to cope.

So its pretty much a Distrbuted Denial of Service against the entire infastructure of a network all at once, unlike the Mafiaboy attacks in 2001, which took down part by part of the websites. Am I correct?

this is so stupid...omg... foxnews.
it's amazing how this channel just succeeds to give you "fear" over and over again. It's all what the USA is about, fear. That's the way they hold you on a leash.
and poeple are ready to give A LOT of money to make that feeling disappear, but it won't, it's just the way the USA runs. :/

Some make jokes, but we are due for atleast a large scale technological attack. Whether it be simply the internet or all internet based communications/communications in general, Im surprised something serious hasnt happened yet.
