Hey Hey!
Alright, I upgraded my display adapter in 2004, buying a Sapphire Radeon X800 PRO. It's been running absolutely perfect since I bought it, i've never had any problems with it at all. Last night I booted up C&C Generals for a quick skirmish match and about 5 minutes it crashed & exited to the desktop and my PC displayed a "overheating" problem (not bluescreen, just a regular "box").
The PC didnt emit any irregular sounds, the gpu temperature was normal, and I didn't experience any problems at all. So in a move I've come to regret, I booted Generals again and the game ran perfectly without any stressing fan noises at all. I played for an hour, exited the game, and shut down my PC.
Later, I rebooted the PC and it is beeping PowerOnSelfTest "morsecode" (in lack of a better word). I took out my X800 and cleaned the fan of any dust (and it wasn't much at all)
I've tried absolutely everything, I've booted with limited hardware, connecting & disconnecting different hardware, and the PowerOnSelfTest ALWAYS fails.
What could have happened?
Does a PowerOnSelfTest fail if there is no Graphics adapter available?
Can dust destroy a Display Adapter? Is it possible to fix?
Speqs:
Intel Pentium 4 - 2.66 Ghz
Radeon X800 Pro
512 Mb RD ram (800mhz)
2x200gb
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
