EA Sports Rugby 06 challenges gamers to compete in a host of the World's most prestigious rugby competitions including the Six Nations, Lions Tour, Tri Nations, Guinness Premiership and the Super 14. The game's exhilarating gameplay now mirrors the real thing closer than ever before, with new moves such as off-load passes, quick line-outs and quick penalties that encourage attacking, momentum-driven rugby. Gamers can also dictate play with their star Impact Players and can choose from a legion of new set plays to pile on the pressure and keep their opponents firmly on the back foot. Get into the game with TV-style presentation, stadiums from all over the world, including Twickenham, Lansdowne Road, the Millennium stadium and Murrayfield and commentary from the respected commentator Ian Robertson and All Black legend Grant Fox.

features:-

Everything you would associate with a rugby game!!
New "Off load passing"
Impact Players (hmmm sounds like something a certain Sega game did a long time ago - how unlike EA to pilfour from other games)
Hard Hits
Quick Penalties and Lineouts
Over 25 on the fly set plays
Large sweaty lubed up men tackling and grappling with each other in an event rivalled only by the spectacle of the Roman Gladiators or your average night out in Soho.

comments:-

I haven't tryed this one yet, im freaking knackered at the moment with work and my only interest for the next 10 hours is sleeping, the game has already been reviewed on IGN though and got a more than respectable score of 8.3 - mini reviews please. Very Happy

Going by the cover art it should be called "Ireland Rugby 06" - where is Lawrence Dallaglio or some other heavy-weight bruiser !? Smile

That was just me bugulous using the cover art from Gamespot/IGN and a few other sites. The final cover art has Dan Carter, Mark Cueto and predictably Gavin Henson. Damned pretty boys, I agree either put Lawrence Dallaglio, Matt Stevens, Steve Thompson or Ben Cohen on the cover instead of the standard self preening pansies.

Also whatever happened to publishers bringing out individual box artwork for different regions of the country, Its not like the majority of sportsfans are totally impartial or neutral some people don't want to get a game with Gavin Henson on the cover because he represents the enemy, likewise the England and All Black players. Smile

by the way, just grabbed this, and it rocks!!!

Its got a tutorial for it, coz its a bit confusing, i keep getting caught offside and giving points away, but its cool, and i'm winning as many games as i'm losing, so its not too bad!!

Small game, and good fun

Yeah russ_beer, I gave it a quick game just then inbetween trying Black and Outlaw Volleyball - the game just isn't for me im afraid. Only played it briefly and wouldn't try too draw any comparison between Rugby and NFL but I find compared to playing NFL on a console playing Rugby just isn't as exciting.

That feeling of calling a good play, escaping a blitz, launching a hail mary in the final seconds, forcing and recovering a fumble etc for me is lacking from Rugby as a computer game. I also wasn't fond of the side on camera as default it made it hard to see the opposing players up the field when launching an attack and I also fealt it made judging tackles harder than it should be. Likely the camera can be changed in the options screen but as I said the game just isn't for me.

Not to say its a bad game by any means the presentation is fine, graphics have those nice bloom effects similar to Fifa 06, some of the models really do look like their counterparts, responsive controls, nice tackling system and looks to be alot of different game modes and so on. Im sure people that are more into Rugby will lap it up, might be a nice 2 player game as well. Smile

Nobody's perfect. Its out anyways, go grab it!

Fair play Starshine, i don't like rugby either, but once i played the tute and got to grips with how the game of rugby is actually played, i really enjoyed it. It is similar to NFL games for me in how fuckin irrating it is when you can't get the fuckin ball back. Bloody annoying as hell. But i get you on the camera angle, tackling is made hard, and you get next to no notice that a big burly git is about to clothesline you on your way goalward.
