hi all i am wondering which to go for a amd setup or a intel i currently have 3 intel 2.8 systems all with 512mb dual mem ati 9800 pro g cards and all with raptor hdd's i dload and convert a lot of movie files games but i also like to play games as well but i seem to be struggling with the upto date games that are currently out threr at the moment so i am thinking of upgrading but which way as i will have to upgrade completely ie new mobo cpu mem g card i wish to carry on gaming and encoding ripping so please fire away

p.s i intend to spend around £500 per system Idea

AMD64 Dual Core is probably your best bet.

Intel is code for encoding/converting/Playback etc. While AMD is excellent with Games.

Get A64 Dual-Core with 1mb cache per core. Then make sure your encoding application is capable of using Dual-core systems and it will take down any intel system.

Also it will be great for games... Very Happy

oh and don't forget to pair that up with 2gb ram...

The above is probably the truest statement you will hear in this thread.. However the Opteron 144 is without doubt the BEST deal you can get at the moment.. the power of an FX chip for about £100! Bargin.
