Can someone who knows a lot about Steam tell me what data they collect from you?

well, they don't give a fuck about you browsing porn if that's what you mean
they have that survey about your hardware, but you are free to not answer
they log your game statistics (hours of play,...)
that's about it, they do have access to your name and address if you used a credit card to buy a game from the store, but i don't think they use it, and i'm pretty sure they don't ever sell it to third parties, that's pretty much no different that any company you bought from with CC
really no reason to freak out, steam doesn't scan your computer

Then why do some people say Steam spies on you? And in Steam's privacy policy, they say they collect information about other software on your computer in bug reports.

-people says a lot of shits on the internet
could you provide a link where you've seen people writing that? i'd like to laugh
-they collect informations so they can see if any other software isn't causing a crash or troobleshooting
like, right now, they noticed people having problem were all having raptr installed
so they created a thread in the steam forums to find more people with that application installed, ant that have problems with it when using steam
that way they can find what is causing the problem, and hopefully resolve it, may it be on raptr or steam side (they probably work together on that particular problem)
it's important to collect data when debugging, you can't fix a problem you don't how it happened
information collected by steam in crash reports are probably just what other exes were running during crash, info about OS installed and updates, etc...
