I actually tried it and as expected, it's completley in jap.
The game blows big time too. The CG movies are as brilliant as ever though.

I loved this game! Played for five hours now, probably one of the best games this year. The Themesong by Gackt is amazing too!

Right, completed the game now, it´s quite short (about 12-13 hours) and fully understandable even if you don´t know Japanese. Great game by the way, i´ll surely buy this one when it´s released in the US.

i played it till after the 1st boss and i wasnt impressed.
that graphics are pretty good and the fmvs are the best ever, almost advent children quality,
but the gameplay suffers.
close combat is simply bad and i dont see any reason to use it since most enemies shoot at you from afar.
the shooting is also not really good, but not too bad either.
overall, pretty mediocre but i didnt expect anything better.

I believe that it was never meant to be anything else than mediocre. It was just made to make squareenix some easy money since everyone will buy it because it says "final fantasy 7". :/

i ll get the us version though only because of the story, after all its a sequel to advent children even.

Eh, how will a story help shitty gameplay?
As kuja said, the gameplay is just not good. And you do PLAY, so the gameplay is incredible important.
SquareEnix proves once again how bad they are as a developer these days. :/
Maybe it would be better if they just focus on publishing instead of developing.

Stop playing their games if you don´t like them, can´t get any more simple than that. You don´t have to bash Square-Enix in every thread i make about their products.... There are actually still fans out there who likes them, me included.

I will continue to try their games, just as I try every othergame, and I will continue to bash them if I find them to be shit. If you cant take it that someone bash your beloved squareenix, then put that person (me) on ignore.
And the overall view on teh internet is that this game do suck, you are in a minority. Even the japanese people think it sucks.
Imagen if this game had the controls and gameplay of dmc, man, THEN it would have been a fricking sweet ass game. I mean, in the fmv's vincent jump and do all kind of crazy shit, but in the game he's as stiff as a fricking stick.

That is pure bullshit, just check out the official forums and dirgeofcerberus.net , almost every person loves the game, me included. Almost every game you try "blows" according to you, what games do you actually like? CS/Quake ? This is not a Devil May Cry game, nor was it meant to be. It´s an Action game with a touch of Action RPG. It isn´t meant to be about challenge but about story and character development so comparing it to DMC is just not fair. It´s just like with the Xenosaga games (which are some of the best games ever made according to me), some people loves them, others hate them.

So you're saying that they like it at the official forums and a fan site? Damn, I'm shocked. 
The fact is Elazul, this game was made purely to cash in on the ff7 name, just as with the other new ff7 themed games. SquareEnix knows that people like you exist, people that will like anything with ff7 in it, even if the game is shit you people will find it awesome.
I'm a mgs fanboy, but not to this degree.
But if you want to like this game, please do, but stop whining at me for bashing it.
I like quality products btw. Not cashin products.
Do a search on this forum to find out what titles I enjoy, you will see that I like alot of games, but I'm way more picky than the average gamer.
Edit: Xenosaga is a quality products, it shines with quality all over, even if you dont like it which I dont, you can still see the quality and dedication that was put into those games. And that's not the case with this game.

thats true man, FFX was decent I guess, but then FFX2 was the biggest fuckup, i couldnt believe it. Im sorry but I agree that Square only went downhill after merging to SquareEnix.
Shit...I really wanted to play this game tho, i like anything thats FF7 related, but its not HDD compatible. Oh well, I think Ill just watch all of the CG movies from the game and wait for the USA version.

it seems to me that they re-used the models from advent children, thats why the cgi movies look so good.
you can see that the characters who didnt appear in advent children seem a bit less detailed in the movies.
