Maybe turn it into some sort of NFHOhump metacritic? Instead of writing an actual review, someone can submit the game, once approved and general information added, people can submit their comments on the game.
Add a decent search system to look for games.

something like that ya

Not a bad idea.
Not trying to be a downer here, but I haven't looked at the reviews sections/release nfo since.... probably ever. I don't know how many people actually use it or ever even look at it.
I come straight to the forum and any worthy release are already being talked about.
That said, I would be all for a quick review/metacritic/comment section for releases.

Restarting the review thing has been tried before, but it's just a spur of the moment thing and dies down after a little while.

Can't we have a rating for posts now that will bring a lot of whining and bitching

No, not right now.
Let's first let the guys concentrate on upgrading the forum itself to the XXI century, then we can discuss further development.
Personally, I think a blog per user is the best option. Anyone can fill it with what they find interesting, and if people like what the person has to say, they can follow, comment, etc. What more, there are extensions for the forum software that can add these abilities.

I find the official threads already very informative when it comes to opinions/mini-reviews, but it's true that sometimes we get carried away and the bashing prevails, filling dozens of pages of rants and heated discussions ..but it's inevitable.
Leo is right, better think about the upgrade first, and then we can focus on the "accessories"

on top of that....spoilers...spoileers every where. Which is why I don't go into the games section any more. 40 pages of bickering and nothing on the game. If it's a popular game and you ask a question, it usually gets burried and you spend 2 more pages looking for your question and then seeing if anyone replied.

People still need that?
I used it a lot in the past (few times a day), but for a few years now I haven't even bothered to see whats up there

ya I don't see a reason for NFO's anymore, it used to be a thing when there was an actual competition with release groups, now it's just all P2P stuff and whatever, and we don't really need to know about copy protection anymore since most releases are just steam releases and it doesn't use any special protection.
