Hello

I'm quite new to this, but I like things "perfect". So I'm trying to collect a bunch of releases with all the *REPACK*'s etc properly included. Usually it's easy enough to guess how to do it, especially if the .nfo files are available. I guess a good start would be if anyone could point me to a list of what the different *<txt>* means, and how to distribute them properly. For instance, is there any difference between *REPACK* and *REAL*? When should both the original and the new release be provided? If it's a *DiRFiX* should I just rename the dir in the original release and be distribute that, or should I distribute both the original exactly as it was released and the dirfix? The thing I want to avoid is to spread releases that shouldn't be spread, I guess you understand why Rolling Eyes

Also, is there any way to know if a release has a sample attached to it or not? The .sfv's are good for the .rar's, but I've seen no way of finding if a release I've downloaded is missing a sample or not. Perhaps I can just assume that all releases have a sample, and if it doesn't it's a crappy release anyway? Razz

The real reason I wrote this post to begin with though, is that I have a download with two releases. The second one called *REAL*. I can conclude as much as to focus on that one, especially since the first seems to be missing the sample. However, it doesn't contain an .nfo. I couldn't find it on this site either, but I found it on vcdreview which I found linked in this forum. However it doesn't say anything about what was wrong with the first release, so it's no more help than for completion of the release.

My guess is that when I downloaded the *REAL* release it was somehow missing the .nfo-file, and all I need to do to make the release complete is to save the .nfo file from vcdreview, and delete the first release since it has no relevance. Right or wrong? Smile

(oh and if you want an "example" of what I'm talking about take a look at this and this. Note that these are just example, don't dare think that I've downloaded something illigal! Laughing )

what *real* release are you talking about?

I've seen real used when a scene release comes out after a non-scene release, like the munich dvd screener for instance...

sometimes (very rarely) releases show up on p2p before "the scene".

and about the west wing episodes, I can't tell the difference since the nfos are identical. same group releasing both too .. you think they'd tell you what's going on.

ok

I think I've figured it out. It seems they put out a release of e11, but packed e10 in it. Then when they realized it they released a dirfix for it, and a *REAL* e11. So I guess I figured out what the difference between *REPACKED* and *REAL* is as well Smile
