P$IX Paying for your homebrew! , I already have PSP-OSS thanks.
Can the PSP scene get any worse?

http://www.naoneo.com/ , the creators of the PSIX 'homebrew' for the PSP the amazing application that was ment to be out months ago , but never seen the light of day has now returned!

But instead , You will need to pay for this return.

Quote:
Just what is this worth?

While we have no price set in stone at this time, the full version of psix will most probably be set between $7 and $15 per license, this license covers all future updates and patches, and also gives you access to the development forums where you can take part in discussions with other developers and suggest things which may be added to psix!

In other words its like PSP-OSS but it includes a pricetag. Yay Rolling Eyes
HOMEBREW SHOULD STAY FREE. FULL STOP.

I will update this thread from time to time , see where this goes. but as you can tell i don't like the idea of paying for homebrew Razz , Its like paying for XBMC for the xbox. Shocked

Update : Feature List & FAQ

http://psixonline.com/features.html

Quote:
This feature list is based on estimations, some features may make it for final release, some may not, we will do our best to get as much in and stable as possible for launch day, if we feel more should be done for the Pro version release, we will release Psix Lite on launch day, and Pro at a later date.

Please keep in mind that Psix Pro users are entitled to free lifetime updates, which cover all subsequent changes and updates to the psix application.

Update #2

This thing was ment be released about 12 hours ago , but seems to be delayed, its now going to be released in an hour so fluff says.. This has caused a massive 25 page thread about PSIX here http://forums.qj.net/showthread.php?t=35957&page=25&pp=10

So will it be worth all this time everyone's been waiting for it? (1 year) , Or will it just be another PSP-OSS... We will find out in about an hour so it seems.

Update #3
Now released.

lol Nobody is going to pay for that. Plain and simple.

You should not be surprised by such things either. Expect more crap like that to be happening. Next you will have a website asking for money just for them to give you a link to where you can get homebrew applications for people who dont even know where to look.

I was going to post this on the pspupdates.com forums but i would most likely get flamed to death for such a thing.

I really hope this is not going to become a trend for PSP homebrew.

Edit : I don't mind in donations , I would donate to pacmanfan's PSX emu project if i could for example. But actually paying for homebrew is a nono.

yeah well this is the homebrew circuit. they must be incredibly naive if they dont expect it to get passed around freely... and i doubt they have some super amazing protection on it so that it CANT be used without purchase....

How in hell can you charge for software which:

a) uses exploits to run
b) is not licensed by sony
c) invalidates your warranty

on the protection, each copy of the shell is tied to your PSPs MAC address. You must have to submit it when you order or something.

This just basically turns your PSP into a PDA as mentioned.
I bought my PSP to play games on. I haven't even watched 1 movie on it yet. Why would I want to when I can play a game instead.

Deelix I gotta ask: Why you've got Pinball iso on your stick? Very Happy it's just taking up about 250Mb of space for nothing.

Fluff@PSPUpdates.com Forum

To be completely honest, if we were to continue to make software for the psp, it'd be only available to psix pro users, not because i want to make more money, but because honestly, people are narrow minded arrogant asses about everything, disrespecting the developers at the drop of a hat, they complain that a pay-version exists, seemingly completely overlooking the free version which is more functional than any other shell out at this time,(Not True , The feature list looked like PSP-OSS's / PSP PDA's) to me the purchase of psix pro doesnt just mean cha-ching money, it shows me that said user appreciates the application and respects the work we've done, which makes me feel more inclined to give said users additional benefits such as games we probably wont release anywhere else.

People sit and say charging for psix pro will be the death of the psp scene, but theyre wrong, the freeloading asswipes(Yes , forget about the donator's fluff) with no respect for the hand that feeds their mouths, are the ones killing the scene, all they want to do is take, take and take some more, if anything appears that required them to give a single thing back, they flare up in a rage.

So honestly, no, we will be too busy working on updates to psix to bother publicly releasing dual saviour, however we'll just give betas to psix pro users instead.

Now on a serious note, i want you people reading this post to go to the main site and read all the comments on the psix news post, then ask yourself this.
If you spent the past 7 months working on an application, and in those 7 months your father passed away(Never heard about this untill now amazingly), and you stopped updating because you were obviously away for good reasons (he never mentioned any reasons for stopping devlopment), only to return to find people flaming and claiming the software you are working on is vapourware, then, CONSTANTLY be harrased for the next 6 months about the application you're working on, you finally think what the hell we can release soon, i'll let people know its out soon", only to have comments like those on the front page thrown at you, from ill informed people without a clue about the software you worked on, just how pissed off would you feel?
If it wasnt for the fact alot of decent respectful people are looking forward to trying out psix, i'd be sorely tempted to say screw it, and ditch the free version all together, but dispite the anger over the disrespectful asses, and the constant flaming, personal attacks and bull****, we've kept on trucking and we're a week away from release,

To people who may end up buying psix, enjoy the lite version, and think about the exciting new additions the updates will bring to you

To people waiting for it to be cracked and download it for free, screw you

Kind words from good old fluff , I would'nt be suprised if he never released a free version anyway because in his words "screw it" great commitment there fluff! Rolling Eyes

What a whiner.
No one's forcing him to make a shell. no one owes you a living.
if it aint signed by sony then why should you have the right to charge for it?
If you want to make money out of deving then fine, either make legal software and sell it, or don't. simple as that.

apart from his deeply offensive words (screw you... gosh Sad), he is right. it isn't devs looking for money that are killing the scene, its all the demanding fucking noobs that are... why would anyone want to work on free shit, if all those selfish little leeches are happy one day, then turn around and start attacking you the next, just because you arent giving them more shit...

the sad thing is, these bastards (of which we have more than a few on this very forum) dont even realise who they are, because they see nothing wrong with how they act...

if he wants to charge money for something he's made, good for him... WE DONT HAVE TO BUY IT IF WE DONT WANT TOO... so thats all there really is too it... its not something to get upset over or attack the guy for... he doesn't owe the psp community sh*t, and from what ive seen, many people in the community dont deserve to RECEIVE stuff either.
