Hehe, all you have to do is scroll past that message Very Happy

EDIT: Ok, thats weird, it worked just a second ago, and now it asks me to pay.

EDIT 2: I opened it in another browser, and it worked again.

Quote:

In your windows directory you can find 3 files named logo.sys, logos.sys and logow.sys . These files are used by the system as presentation logo, shutdown logo and wait for system logo respectively.

Be sure to rename the original logo (logo.sys) in a safe place and replace it with your preferral (must have the same name: logo.sys).

You can use same procedure with the others.

Edit those files with mspaint or something. I think they really are BMP files.

its really Wn98 ? just curious --- Wink
you can never know .. a typo like that can end in a very long discussion where each party thinks the other is retarded Wink

... so back to topic the startup logo from WIN98 would be logo.sys ... modified them myself some years ago.

yeah its win98 SE, i believe silly ms built logo.sys into IO.sys, which makes it a pain in the rear to edit... however the problem has come to the laptop its installed on has become unstable, i believe the 10 year old hard disk has reached its life span as it keeps on creating bad clusters on the hard disk. and takes for years to run scandisk Rolling Eyes

oh well thanks for the help and advice people.... most appreciated! Smile

It has to be logo.sys, and the logo can be stopped to load if you add the line 'Logo=0' in the file msdos.sys (also a system file)

The file logo.sys has to be a *.bmp file with a color depth of 256colors and 320x200, save it and rename the *.bmp to logo.sys.

If you want to change the text wich is displayd besides the logo, you have to edit the file oeminfo.ini in the winodws/system dir (you might have to create the file yourself if it doesn't exist, it needs a special format though)
