Well I'm about to watch an autopsy in five minutes. Tonights episode is about cancer, while last nights was about diseases of the circulation.

The thing that I can't work out is if Von Hagen is doing this for education or entertainment.

To be honest, watching an autopsy doesn't really bother me, I mean at the end of the day we all end up that way.

Yet at the same time I can't bring myself to watch a live operation.

I usually prefer to watch porn. Not the scat type though.

Or a nice episode of Mash.

I looked up "gormless" in the dictionary, it said "without gorm" .... so i looked up "gorm" but it wasn't there ????

i dont like watching operation or aything involving real blood. i can stand it. but i hate it. no problem with fake blood tho. i can watch the hardest splatter movies no problem...but as soon as i see an operation on a beating heart on tv i go pale.

i dont like this hagen dude. he takes the dignity of the dead. it's not like you need to watch it to live on. its more pushing the voyeurism button...a bit like everyone stops and watches when after a car crash someone is bleeding to death on the street.

jesus christ was a gangsta rapper. they killed him. he came back and made a platinum album.

I sort of agree. I mean I can't really work out if it's a good thing or not. Watching this 2nd autopsy he's just cut the head off a 45 year old woman. I would say that that's more mutilation for entertainment rather than a serious autopsy for education.

45 years old is no age at all.

Watching an autopsy....that sounds like a blast...or not Neutral

Surgery is one thing, but watching a dead guy get cut apart like a fish is not my idea of good, entertaining tv.
I do like watching operations tho - as long as it has nothing to do with the eyes.
You know whats neat? How they do facelifts, weird shit.

Wow, quick response Smile
Isnt it like 3:30am in England? Its 10:30pm here

But yeah, i dunno...being a smoker, cancer really isnt a subject of interest for me. Unless there is a show about how they can cure it with a simple pill, i dunno, not my thing.

Yeah 3:30 here. Can't sleep and no work tommorow.

I couldn't believe how invasive cancer really is. They had the cadaver of a 45 year old woman who died of this filthy disease. She was riddled with it. Every part of her body was filled with tumours. Shocking really, far too young to die at 45.

@Jenni

I was just curious. I could have swore you said u have a young child? or am I wrong? Work, late nite + a kid? that sounds like 1 or 2 hours of sleep a nite as it is Laughing

You know what sucks? I woke up from like an 8 hour sleep about 40 minutes ago...and I have to be back asleep by 12am, at the latest...have to be up for work at 5:30am...Sad

And yeah, cancer is nasty....a few of my family members have died from cancer, very painful way to go...well, that is if your stupid like they were and dont take your meds.
My grandmother had...oh fuck, i cant remember what kinda cancer, but anyway, she had to use an oxygen tank and take all these pills and stuff. Anyway, we are at her house one day and me and my cousins are outside in the back playing and stuff, and what do we see? this little old wrinkled hand pop out of the washroom window with a cigarette half smoked...ridiculous...

@Syn

Meh, staying up late then doing a test is fun....once youve aced it, come home, kick back and get freaky with your girl Smile Good way to wake yourself up Smile

I have two kids. But once they're at school/nursery tommorow I can go back to bed.

I had to watch my dad die slowly of bone cancer. It took over 18 months of extreme pain, sometimes he was in that much agony his back was arched off the bed. The worst of it is, is he had to wait three fucking months for radiotherapy. It wouldn't have cured him, but his death would have been far less painful and he would have lived longer if he had gotten it sooner.

That's why I hate this fucking government. I was watching a program earlier about spending in the NHS. They don't have the money for basic treatments, yet they've wasted 1000's on fucking neon lights that surround the windows on one ward. They say it speeds up recovery time, smells of bullshit to me.

that sucks to hear, watching someone die, someone close is very painfull Sad

As for UK healthcare, well, I dont really know much about your government's healthcare spending policies. It seems however, that healthcare spending seems to be an issue in most western countries nowadays...how can we stay 'modern' without proper healthcare?

Well that's just it. When the National Health Service first came about it was a massive step forward at the time for social change. A good case in point would be my Grand Mother on my dads side. Back then in Scotland just before the NHS his mother knelt on a piece of hot coal. Quite a common thing then seeing as it was really the only heating available for the average house. Anyway she contracted septicemia otherwise known as blood poisoning. As she didn't have the money for a doctor she died. My granddad died just before that in a dock accident, he fell under the wheels of a truck while getting out. This orphaned my father. It's weird not ever seeing your grandparents on one side. You sort of lose a sense of belonging. Anyway back to the point I was making. I can see the case of people dying of blood poisoning again. Not for lack of money, but due to the huge waiting lists. It's a disgrace.

I never met any of my grandparents, they died before I was born or when I was too young...But I guess it doesnt affect my life.

Anyway, I would have no problem watching an autopsy, but I guess watching it for entertainment is just sick.

As for public healthcare, its not bad in my city, but in most of my country its terrible (due to huge waiting lists too).
