I can only say wow, after I saw yesterday episode of Lost, I mean, I can only ask WTF is that black smoke?
everytime the story starts to getting solved, they just show us something that confuses us even more.
what is that black smoke (creature?)?
where is the story going?
where are they?
how come the black smoke shows events of their pasts?
what do locke and eko think of the smoke?
(are they alive?) or dead?
what does dharma iniciative has to do with it?
who are the others?
what about the horse? the polar bear? the black rock ship in the middle of the island?
where's desmond?
the french women?
who cut the tape of the chinese dude?
WTF is going on?

The smoke was clearly reading Eko's mind.
There's a good theory that sums up everything here:

Considering the massive references to certain scientists and stuff within the show I would bet a lot of that theory is right.

I think Lost has lost the touch it had during most of the first season.
Nothing really makes me interested in it anylonger (though I watch it).
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

the first 4 episodes of season 2 showed us some disapointement, but since then it has just got better and better, IMO the show is getting much better than season 1

I think it's great at giving us the in-depth back-stories of the characters, so in that department Lost is way, way ahead of eg. the Stargate-series. The problem is that since Lost has so many characters, they lose focus when they have so many people. That lack of focus increased when the new group of people were added to the fold. I'd rather see an intensification (and more current development) of the ones we've already come in contact with.
Eko is an interesting character though, and that chicano police officer. But the pace has been brought down, and the supernatural events no longer carry the same weight, as they did for instance when the forest shook (in the beginning of the first season), and when you started to figure out there was something special about this island.
Now there have been so many things unnatural, that you come a bit blasé about it. And I don't know about you guys, but I'm totally uninterested in the Michael-and-his-kid subplot.
I want more Sayid! Damn it! Now that's how you build an exciting character.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

Michael and Walt plot is pretty good, but I agree with you about Sayid, that's one of the best characters on the show.
Jack is also a pretty good actor (the way like he always looks tired), but Sayid is awesome, both in performance and in personality.

I agree completely Fisk. The first season was fantastic in my opinion, I couldn't wait for each new episode. Now in season 2 i've slowly become less and less interested in each coming episode. Now this metaphysical spiritualistic crap seems to have become the focus, with people being kidnapped because they're 'good' and black smoke that seems to read minds and make judgements about people.
I remember originally the creator said that everything that happens on the island could be explained with current science, but now it seems too far fetched.
I'll keep watching it, but with less anticipation then before. Invasion is doing it for me now.

Meh, while that theory is quite elaborate, most of it is conjecture and it contains a quite few mistakes. Plus, the greatest question is: Why?
Why bother to go to so much effort to decieve a small group of people, when they could just have picked suitable people who would be ready and willing (there would be alot) to repopulate the human race after an extinction level event.
It's just a fantasy someone has created, rather then a theory based on evidence given by the show.

The beginning of series two where desmond is in the hatch and it goes through his routine before going out to the survivors at the top of the hatch was brilliant.
I think the main problem is that series two isn't as fresh as season one. As fisk said, supernatural stuff doesn't have the same impact because it's expected whereas it was completely unexpected in series one.
