The port of MGS2 was fine if you have a PS2 pad connected to your PC. Nightmare on keyboard controls, but with the PS2 pad its brilliant. One of the best games I've played. Can't get enough of that stealth action Smile

They'd be stupid not to release MGS3 on the PC, as I'm sure there is a massive market there of people like me who don't want to buy a PS2 for a single game, and already have a fairly powerful PC.

Yeah, if you had the game pad it was great Very Happy I went out and bought a Logitech ps2 look alike Razz only thing it lacks is force feedback

And I loved the substance aspect of it... gave it more replay value Very Happy vr was great and difficult. Snake tales were somewhat meh Very Happy and bonus features made it more fun! Very Happy

I think the one thing that I really missed from MGS2 was mouselook in first person view. It is a nightmare in the VR missions doing first person shooting. Its OK in the main game because you can take your time, but in VR you're on a timer.

I loved the first couple of Snake Tales, but then they started getting a bit silly.

I just recently played through the Tanker chapter on European Extreme, with no radar and "game over if discovered" turned on. Managed to avoid being seen completely. Class Smile

Wouldn't like to try it on the Plant chapter though.

The stealth element is pathetic compare to splinter cells.

in mgs2, yea.
not in mgs3 though.
the stealth in sc3 and mgs3 are very different.
sc3 is all about hiding in the dark and using your gadgets, while mgs3 is all about blending in with the nature by using camoflauge.
i say its a matter of taste here, well the stealth in sc3 was far easier than in mgs3 as its pretty easy to find some dark spot and sit there for a couple of mins instead of trying to use the environment as good as possible in mgs3.
i prefer mgs3 stealth as its a novelty and more interesting imo,
some ppl might prefer sc3 stealth, there are good reasons for that too.

From what I have played, I really hated MGS3. The stealth-elements just didn't work with the standard MGS-gameplay. I really hope Subsistance (Crappiest name EVAH!) fixes all this. Now it just sucks.

Warren Spector : I never minded piracy. Anyone who minds about piracy is full of shit. Anyone who pirates your game wasn’t going to buy it anyway!

Hideo Kojima: If you want to simply tell a story, you can create a film or write a novel.

Interesting characters, good stories?? Well these two points bother me the most in the MGS series. The characters and the story of MGS 2 and 3 are 100% bullshit in my opinion. MGS had a cool story with decent realism and most characters were pretty believable but MGS 2 and 3 had only stupid supernatural enemies and were completely unbelievable and unrealistic. That doesn't fit to the serious and realistic gameplay at all. I don't understand why Hideo Kojima took the series in this ridiculous direction. God I wish they would make MGS 4 like MGS but I doubt it.... Rolling Eyes

How are Psycho Mantis and the cyborg ninja anymore realistic than Vamp or The Sorrow?

I think they are a bit more realistic, at least the ninja is. In theory a suit like that could exist in 20 years time. But the mantis guy, well he's no more realistic then the vampire, or ghost.

Are you fucking kidding me?

Since i first made this thread i've bought a chipped PS2 and got a burned copy of MGS3 from a friend which i've played all the way through. The characters in this game made me wanna puke. A guy who shoots bees out of his mouth, and has to blurt out everything he does before he does it? Like "grenade!!!!!" before he throws a grenade. Or "tommygun!!!!" before he uses his magic bees to replicate a tommygun out of thin air. Nice going dipshit, because this is obviously some cheesy japanese manga where everything is apparently voice activated, even your own body. In japan, people apparently can't kick or punch eachother without first activating their respective limbs by yelling out "super mothra kick!!!!" or "ultra godzilla punch!!!". I've actually seen less cheese at a belgian cheese factory.

And then you have the the 454534534 year old git who spends 90% of the game sleeping in a wheelchair, but then when you meet him he sprints around faster than a kenyan olympic runner. Oh, and he can pop his eyeballs out of his eyesockets. And when he dies, he somehow has the ability to explode and scream "The end!!!!" at the same time, but still making his voice louder than the explosion so you can still hear it. And it also echoes even if there is nothing around to reflect it. And while doing all this he makes his false teeth fly into the air.

And then there's the chick with the scars that can turn into snakes, and the guy who shoots lightning bolts. Oh yeah and the revolver guy who has to have cowboy spurs on his shoes even though he never rides a single horse in the entire game. However, the one character that DOES ride a horse, the scars-that-can-turn-into-snakes chick, doesn't have spurs on her shoes, EVER, even when she rides the horse. Oh yeah, she also seems to have the ability to make the bullets from her gun come out SIDEWAYS when she shoots! This game was so cheesy that you could grind the CD down and use it to make a cheesecake.

And then the game has to shove its fucking pseudo philosophical spiritualism down your fucking throat, with "emotions" that you take into battle, and all kinds of other shit. I could live with the supernatural abilities of the characters, if they were a bit more "realistic", like no magical bees or shooting bees out of the mouth (!) or shit like that. Maybe some levitation, telekinesis, and that sort of stuff. But with the excessively vomit inducing ammounts of cheese and lameness infused into this game, i just felt like puking at every boss character. The dialogs were pretty weak too. If they had just made it realistic and not have all the lame supernatural crap it has now, it would have been so much better. And the metal gear doomsday thing is getting REALLY old. There are other things that can fuck the world up besides nuclear equipped tanks. Anyway, apart from all the lame crap i described above, the game is DAMN fun, and realistic.

Scars that can turn into snakes? Are you talking about 'The Boss'? Because I can't remember her doing that. In fact I thought she was one of the more realistic characters in that she didn't have any super abilities except being leet at hand to hand combat.

The guy who shoots electric? I though that was down to his super conductor electromagnectic suit which amplifies his bodys bioelectric field and allows him to channel it etc. Which would be realistic enough if it wasn't set in the past.

As for the gun shooting bullets sideways, some close range assault weapons can be modified to do that, it causes extreme damage that way, except they're then shit at any resonable range and at penetration.

I thought the bee guy had to yell out that stuff because thats what the bees responded too, either as a result of them being trained or some sort of harmonic frequency they react to.

Saying that I still preferred the bosses in MGS1 alot more.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater was class.
Who could forget the awesome scene with the Sagohod
busting through the bunker.
I didnt like Metal Gear Solid 2 : Sons of Liberty very much largely down to the fact that the storyline was too Inconsistent and the character change in the middle of the game.
I thought Raiden was too Wishy washy with not much character.

Metal Gear Solid : 7 1/2 / 10
Metal Gear Sold 2 : Sons of Liberty 5 1/2 / 10
Metal Gear Solid 3 : Snake Eater 9/10

Amen to that, raiden was the worst character ever created, why didn't they just make a bleach blonde female character instead at least it woulda made more sense.
