Interplay went bankrupt and only exists as a placeholder website the last time I look.

Bethesda own the rights for the fallout franchise and it's rumored to be already developing it with the oblivion engine.
now idea if that is real, but news will come about this project

Bethesda said they were working on Fallout 3, apparently with the Oblivion engine. They also said it would come out "after" Oblivion. Besides from that little is known.

where does it say that will have oblivion graphics engine? i think theyre gonna ruin it if they make it 3d like oblivion.. 1st or 3rd person.. isometric is the only Fallout graphics and like that it should stay .. not eye candy resource eating shit.. we just want excelent isometric gaphics and the same feeling the first TWO(not crap tactics).

Here are some quotes from Pete Hines

Quote:
Can we expect something similar to the work done on Morrowind, in terms of that style of game experience?
Pete Hines: Again, it's early to say, but it wouldn't be a leap of faith to say that we plan to use technologies in development otherwise. You could make some fairly safe leaps of faith that it would be similar in style. We're not going to go away from what it is that we do best. We're not going to suddenly do a top-down isometric Baldur's Gate-style game, because that's not what we do well.

Quote:
Your release said that Fallout 3 will be developed alongside the next Morrowind. Will they be based on the same engine?
Todd Howard: We've been developing some new technology for a long time now that could be used in many games, so we plan on using that. It is not the Morrowind engine.

Read the whole FAQ at http://www.nma-fallout.com/content.php?page=fo3-faq although it's mostly "too early to say" and general speculation.

look at dungeon siege 1 and 2 for example. Good reasons to not use isometric anymore. It depends on the developers though to fill either world, be it isometric or 3d, with life, so i guess both could rock or suck still. Considering the other games i guess fallout 3 wont be bad, no matter how they do it =)

For me Fallot must be turnbased and isometrich view. Otherwise it is not fallout IMHO.
Fallout in a strange Morrowind like view is nothing for me. Sad

For me it doesn't matter as long as it'll have Fallout-feel to it

yup, nobody really needs a clone of an old game. It s better to just replay the old one then. They have to get the spirit of the game into the new game. I think something like the knights-of-the-old-republic combat-system would be cool for it. Thats the best "turn-based" implementation in 3d i have seen so far

Kotor's combat was a mess, just let the setting die and focus on something new, it's been assfucked enough by tactics and fobos.

hehehe, sure i have. In fact i even bought it and also worms forts under siege (the cheapo games-pyramid-version only though) and worms 4 mayhem. All cool 3d turn-based games. But i doubt that that particular combat-system would fit into an rpg games as that would take away from the immersiveness into the game i fear. I havent played fallout tactics though, was it like kotor?

tactics was nothing like kotor, it had option to play it turn-based like the previous ones but there was also an option for playing in real time (which sucked IMHO)

IMHO Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel sucked no matter how you played it.
It never got that real Fallout feeling as it was focused on combat and didn't contain any real roleplaying elements. Also the way it was designed was bad. It was just like any shooter.
1. start with small guns, kill humanoids
2. meet a new enemy that kicks your ass UNTILL you find the big ass machinegun
3. new enemy where the big ass mahcinegun sucks, find rocker launcher 2k6
4. new enemy and rocket launcher 2k6 no good anymore, find laser machine gun extreme
5. a new enemy again and laser immunity 90%, new weapon big mofo plasma kickass sheit gun.
6. end of game.

that was how it all worked IMO.
