a CLASSIC game. if that is, you can get past the clunky outdated engine, poor combat, a handful of glitches and bugs, and a whole lot of frustration. but anyways it is a good one. reminds me of the feeling you got playing the old ultima and wizardry games. the open-endedness and story alone are worth the price of admission. just too bad it doesnt come with the original gothic, the story of which i have to peice together as i go. good stuff tho, i am already 15 hours into it and it really seems the story has just begun to open up(chapter 2). by the way, anyone aware of any mods to help the gameplay out? like say, a mod to speed up your running speed(the game is long enough, shouldn't take you a half an hour to walk to the nearest portal or town) and the ability to heal yourself by automatically eating whatever weird foodstuffs and the whole crazy lockpicking thing? if not, hopefully another patch will come to make the headaches go away, at least a bit. The only hotkey healing you can have is for potions - hit the H key AFTER you change the flag in the .INI file --- found in the SYSTEM directory of your Gothic install directory usePotionKeys=1 you can also enable quicksaves, so that F5 saves to a quicksave slot

You get teleportation abilities later on in the game, so travelling to known locations ceases to be an issue.
