Already thats a surprise...even though I won't bother until a really good modchip comes out. And even than I won't get a modchip if it screws up my "Live" acount or makes it unsable.
We'll have to wait and see I guess. Still very good news GO China GO

That's true. The first mod chips are never worth getting. Even if a chip comes out in a few weeks, it will still take much longer for a good chip to come out.

probably the way to play backups will be with hacked dvd firmware, if the drive reports back that the disc is a dvd-rom plus other info then theres no need to find a way to run unsigned code (at least to play backups that is, not much use for homebrew tho).
wether the above method would work once the xbox 360 has been connected to live is another matter.

Only MMORPG's charge you to play on their servers. There are many games with official servers which you can play on for free.

Last time I looked... PC Online games had servers you were paying a month fee.. like the MMORPG World of warcraft...so no I fail to see how your "stupid" if you use xbox live

I think some of you guys under estimate xbox live...I don't like the idea of paying either but PC games online can't compete with live. You feel like your apart of a massive community for all games in one spot. The invite a friend is the coolest thing and ofcourse the headset works with every online game...even with the Arcade games...cool.
I do admit PC online can have 64+ people...but that will change in the future. I'm sure that Battlefiels 2 for the xbox360 will support 64...I hope...don't quote me on that.

the xbox360 is very hard to hack. this will never happen , at least not in the next 2-3 years.
this time the important parts are directly on the CPU.
each Bios is encrypted with its own key. the key is directly on the cpu
All security important parts are probably in the 1st/second level Chache.

yea but you're basing that on how the xbox was hacked. The amount of progress made on the xbox/xbo360 firmware to date and in such a short time leads me to beleive that this is the most practical way to play backups. That forum thread about dumping the firmware on xboxhacker.net is literally 3 weeks old and already theyve unlocked the xbox DVDROM few more months of dedicated hackery and i'm sure we'll see some interesting results
