Can someone please reply with step by step of how to set a filesystem/framestore on my Octane2? I don't have xlv_mgr and I just can't believe this system doesn't have another - free with the OS!! - method of partitioning drives.

Trying to get flame9 to use my option disk in place of an all too expensive stone array.

Thanks

can also reply with NFORCE in the subject to batianlong@iwon.com

hm, i haven't worked with IRIX for ages, but i do remember that you can use "sash/fx" to repartition your drives. Note though that different hardware plattforms needed different versions of sash/fx. But as i said, it was a long time ago since i used it, not sure if this info is still up to date. You have to boot sash before you are able to start fx.

Nice system Wink!

As the machine is 64bit MIP's based I'm pretty sure you could download a 64bit version of linux and install it on the system using one of the standard file systems. Although, you may have issues running some of your SGI software..

As for IRIX, I have never installed the OS so I couldnt give you any specific information.. however you may want to check out some of these links Smile!

http://www.futuretech.blinkenlights.nl/6.5inst.html - IRIX 6.5 Installation (this covers various systems..)
http://freeware.sgi.com/index.html - IRIX freeware homepage

Hope that helps Wink!

Installing IRIX was a pain in the ass Wink We had a couple of Professional IRIS Systems at my first college i went to, and since i worked in the datacenter there i had the pleasure of resinstalling it a couple of times.
