I would like to get an apple laptop, around the $300 price range. That would = a 500-MHz system. Just to try one out.

Would this be a waste of money? Should I wait for a faster one, at that price?

I would wait untill the new Intel based Apple notebooks show up early next year. The price of the PowerPC Apple ibooks will sure drop some more as a lot of those Apple nerds will upgrade.

In the meantime you could try to get the current OS X for x86 running on your notebook, if you already own one, saves you some cash Wink
