Well maybe this goes to protection bitiching but i wanted to play PoP:TTT.

So I disconnected my DVD Burner (only that i promise), because of SF and stuff ...
And now Windows is/ actually was "naggin" me with activatition stuff because my hardware changed.

Well i dont consider unplugging my DVD Burner a "substential" hardware change, and it got me thinking.

So i wanted to ask what windows considers a hardware change that requires you to reactivate. It's not a problem because i already got it sorted out. But it is a question of intrest.

Ahh ... should mention im dead drunk .. so my english gets much worse (not my mother tounge) ...

Thanks @ advance

XP activation allows something like 6 system hardware settings to be altered from original system state when installed, so that includes any new ram, nic, cpu, vid card and so on that you have added.

But if you unplug / reconnect a known hardware part then it should not cause XP to moan about re-activating, swapping in and out a known component should only count as 1 change.

Even if you have the original XP CD sitting there on your desk, just get a Corporate copy, using a VLK key, with which you can alter as much hardware as you want without any activation nagging.

I did not touch any of these.

Well i have a original copy, but got me some activation fix.

Still seems odd to me, having to reactivate Windows just by (and only by) unplugging my DVD-Writer.
